A decision in what regard? Nothing will happen to Ladd. It’ll remain and serve as a high school stadium. The Senior Bowl will move to USA’s new stadium and the Dollar General Bowl will most likely move as well.

Houston conducts its first practice in the new Fertitta Center!

Inaugural game vs. #13 Oregon in 19 days. December 1. 8 PM central. ESPN2.

Shown are the club seats in gray, loge seats behind the club seats with tabletops,
club area back behind, and terrace seats above the club still in plastic wrap.

Looks nice...I walked in and viewed Hofheinz about 8 years ago and it was horrible.

What is the new capacity? 7,000?

Utah has gone from 32,000 in 1997 and in the deep shadow of BYU to 51,000 seats and PAC-12 membership with this new expansion.

Then with BYU crowds trending in the upper 50's these days instead of full capacity the two schools are now in the same ballpark.

Wow.

And in a good economics lesson, having a smaller sold-out stadium (designed scarcity) with adequate premium seating generates a lot more revenue than a higher capacity stadium with no scarcity and scant premium seating.

We shut the lights off in our 82 year old stadium tonight for the last time.

Demo starts Monday morning for 6 weeks straight, 24 hours a day.

The Utah stadium looks great.

I was in Salt Lake City back in April. I wish I could've gone to see the stadium but I was on a Greyhound bus so I didn't a chance to. SLC and the surrounding suburbs were really nice.

I'm glad they're renovating, just surprised they wouldn't go up to 55,000 or so.

Hmm hadn't thought about us as a bowl location? It's a decent central location but our airport doesn't have a lot of direct flights. Plenty to do around Hampton Roads tho.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

The Olympic committee was in town to receive the 2030 winter bid. The South End Zone houses the outdated and inadequate locker rooms and media ops stuff. There had to be an improvement plan in place and approved in order to present it as part of the bid.

There has been a lot of change in the local sports marketplace in the last 20 ars and more so in the last 10. And the future is very hard to predict as there are a lot of social and demographic changes coming that in Utah have an impact on sport fandom. The university has been kicking the can down the road hoping that things would become a little clearer so that they could get a more cost-effective right-sized expansion in one go.

But the deadline hit and they had to just approve a phase 1 plan. They’ll see how that works out and continue to observe trends. Any future capacity expansion will then come as a second phase expansion, probably on the East side.

I don't think the airport is that important...ORF is sufficiently large enough. I would think a SunBelt vs CUSA would be good fit. Maybe even the MWC or AAC would want a new bowl game vs.the CUSA. Norfolk is within 12 hours driving by a whole lotta people so it could have solid support. Weather while not warm has a good chance to be in the 40s or low 50s for mid December.

That reconstruction schedule is a mistake IMO. They should have demo’d just one side at a time, providing ODU options when the inevitable construction delays start to pile up.

As an aside, I my Hampton Roads fantasy redesign, ODU and Portsmouth Medical Center would swap campuses.
