Right now we have a total of ten players on the roster. That is not enough. At the very least we need some walk-ons or non-scholarship players. Otherwise if someone gets hurt we can't even scrimmage.

I'm excited about Darrell, but I can't figure that out. We obviously need players to fill out the roster. Maybe walk-ons may be enough to help us get through practices. But, only 10 scholarship players, puts you in a world of hurt if you have 2 or 3 injuries. Still hoping for a senior transfer, or two, if Darrell wants to keep those scholarships for next season which is very understandable. I also don't understand why we have only one assistant coach on staff, almost 2 months after he was hired.

The whole situation is making me nervous. Of course, for all we know the entire staff is hired and on campus, and they just have not told us about it yet. That would be in keeping with the policy of "Keep the fans in the dark."

There’s been a lot of red flags with this situation, IMO.

This hire is not on Chasse...

If it is not on Chasse, it would not surprise me if he has his resume out. Wouldn't blame him.
If he stays, and if DW is not a success, then at least Chasse will have some ammunition to tell the wheels, "Butt out!"

I guess the only person that could tell him what to do would be the Chancellor, since he is Chase's boss. Perhaps the money promised by Darrell's supporters was just too good to pass up. No coach is guaranteed to be successful, anyway. Seems like if those who promised money, follow up on their pledges, it was worth the risk. Worst that could happen is another coaching search, in 2 years, as uLArRuLeS predicted. On paper, Darrell's credentials look as good or better, than just about anybody we could have gotten. Maybe there was a better "coach" out there, that would have come here, but no one who would have created more interest and excitement in the LR community.

Darrell ought to be fine. It may take him a couple of years to get things rolling.

I agree. I don't expect 30 wins next year. If he could get us back to around .500, I think we'll all be thrilled.
