RE: 2018/2019 Schedule
I don't see the Bucs getting more than 5 nonconference home games and one of those will probably be non D1.

East Tennessee and Mercer only SoCon teams yet to release schedules
Looks like two conference games in December
Chicago State November 19
Sam Houston/Jackson State winner/loser November 20
My quess all four games of the Cayman Islands US bracket will be played in JC. Like it was in Chattanooga last year.
ND State November 24
UT Martin December 8
Hope for another d-1 game.

RE: 2018/2019 Schedule
I'm not unopposed to maybe playing one single Division II school at some point. Even the larger in state schools like UT and Vanderbilt do it quite often. No more then that though. And preferably no playing anyone in Division III or NAIA outside of an opening practice game or whatever that first odd game is called.
At the expense of lack of opponents from a power conference, I'm not unopposed to focusing more on mid major or other conferences, or if it's a power 5 team, preferably a weaker team. Last year for example, had we played say Ole Miss instead of Kentucky, at the expense of possibly not being on national television, the team might have stood a much better chance of adding to the win column, and probably wouldn't have exhausted themselves as much. Or by the same token, had we played St. John's or Georgetown as opposed to Xavier, it would still have been a game against a Big East program, but we might have had another better chance at winning and possibly not burning out one or two key player that we could have used later on in January and February.

#2 - "I'm not unopposed to focusing more on mid major or other conferences or if it's a power 5 team, preferably a weaker team". "Played say Ole Miss instead of Kentucky".
Coach Forbes doesn't have the luxury of picking who he wants to play. He has trouble getting any mid major or P5 teams to play, especially at FH.
Playing Kentucky got the Bucs two guaranteed home and home mid major games.
Your ideas on scheduling aren't feasible.

RE: 2018/2019 Schedule
I am hoping for another Xavier type of pre season game so we have the opportunity to win and be noticed by the NCAA gang

In the rest of my lifetime, and maybe even yours...….ETSU basketball will never have a better chance of beating an Big East team (without actually winning the game) than against Xavier last year.
And as Buc76 correctly says, Forbes schedules who he can. I'm sure we'd be playing Ole Miss every year if they'd play us.
He's also correct in pointing out that " Your ideas on scheduling aren't feasible."

I would like to see us play Lincoln Memorial University early in the season. They’re usually a powerhouse in Dll and would become a good team barometer.

Looks like Forbes and co. are having issues trying to finalize our schedule....anyone know what's up?....is he hoping for a certain team to concede?

Please stop. There are no issues with the schedule. It’s done and will be announced in due time. Hell most of it is already public via other sources.

RE: 2018/2019 Schedule
I as well as other Buc fans have total and complete confidence in Coach Forbes. The schedule will be a great one. Personally I would rather play a P5 team that maybe is middle of the pack as to a high powered mid-major.

Well a bunch of dates for Freedom Hall are on hold during December due to a potential concert, so it makes scheduling even more difficult.

Yes that was rather redundant, but I'm a bit new at this. Just anxious to see us play a top team

Higher education over the past fifty plus years has evolved into mostly a liberal ideology place while athletics philosophy at these same institutions has not changed much at all. The entrenched caste system in college athletics has held firmly with the haves and have nots, something the liberal side of many of these institutions rail against on a regular basis.

RE: 2018/2019 Schedule
Its not "athletics philosophy", its real life. There are haves and have nots depending on community support. The larger schools have it if they are successful, the smaller schools dont. A power 5 school has very little reason to play at ETSU, and as much as I love ETSU basketball, I dont believe some sort of artificial system should be put in place to level the playing field.

Of course. My point —- the academic side of many of these institutions are simply unable to comprehend this reality, even as it likely increases the donations to that side, while seeming to be advocating all kinds of artificial systems — usually starting with income redistribution.
