Get a win today and steal one from CCU next weekend. That will be a posting d end to a disappointing rebuilding season. May want to buy stock in App baseball.

Saturday he actually pitched well against you- your guy was a little better

He is also a Senior and Saturday was senior day since today is Mother's Day.

Coastal wins and clinches the #1 seed for the tournament.

The East went 11-1 against the West this weekend. GS's Friday-night loss to Ark State was the only cross-divisional loss for the east.

Bobcats down the Cajuns 8-6, and win the series.

That's a welcome change. Got a mid-week coming up in Austin with the Horns. Last outing there left much to be desired.

Senior Shortstop Luke Sherley gets the save. Four year starter at SS who has played over 200 career games made his first career appearance on the mound. Comes in with the bases loaded and one out in the 9th with an 8-6 lead and strikes out consecutive cajuns to end the game. Can't make this stuff up..

Am I reading it right? Texas State put a career shortstop on the mound to get the final two strikeouts with the bases loaded and a 2-run lead? LoL.

EDIT - NM.

He did pitch in HS, at The Woodlands, which is a pretty decent baseball program. But yeah, today was the first stint on the mound of his college career.

Good on the kid.

RE: Sun Belt Baseball Conference Games 5-11 to 5-13
Final weekend coming up. The Carolina teams will play each other and everyone else is playing their in-state rival/foe/whatever you want to call them.

So if I did my arithmetic correctly:

-Coastal has locked up the RS title (duh)

-The Cajuns are probably the favorite to win the West and get a likely not-so-deserved #2 seed. That cancelled game against GS hurts Little Rock because we are incapable of sweeping anyone except App State and a win over us would have them in a tie with the Cajuns.

-Amazingly, Texas State could win the West division if they sweep UTA and and the Cajuns and Little Rock both lose at least 2 games

-We are all but destined to play in Coastal's half of the bracket. The only way we can get the #3 seed is if we sweep Georgia State and Troy wins exactly 2 games against South. And we most likely won't fall below the 5th seed, either.

-The winner of the South-Troy series is going to play the second-place West team (good for them). The loser is most likely playing GS in probably the best game of the first round of the tournament.

I'm pulling for South myself because they are the only team in this league that we just can't seem to beat.

It really is amazing we're still in it.

It was the perfect storm of us winning our series and the east collectively kicking the wests ass in every other series.

Final SBC Tournament Scenarios are also interesting

Georgia State is a half game ahead of AState for 10th, but the Panthers rain out probably hurts them, because they swept the Red Wolves and would own a tiebreak. Instead, the Red Wolves will take the last tournament spot by winning 1 more game than Georgia State this weekend.

ULM is not locked up either, though they are in a better shot. A game ahead of AState, a half game head of GSU. Warhawks own the tiebreak with AState. A series win in Lafayette would give them the reward of playing another game in Lafayette 3 days later. The problem: They don't exactly have an illustrious recent history with the Cajuns in baseball.

Then you have the AState/LR series. Both teams are fighting for something. Trojans can still sneak back into the West Lead with a strong series. AState probably needs two wins to make the tournament. Then you have the history in this series, where AState has really played well, especially in Little Rock.

Lots of stuff on the line beginning Thursday Night.

We'll see if the Warhawks are good enough....but there's no question they are a LOT better than the program that has lost to the Cajuns 22 straight times.

Hopefully we will sweep State, but last year App was counting on us to just win 2 of 3 against them so they could get in tournament and....03-puke.
