Interesting article in The NY Times about Herd Immunity for those readers interested in the science aspects of this virus.

What happens first Herd Immunity or a vaccine? Both or neither?

Looks like the forms and or framing for the big signboard on Carrier Drive by the main entrance is going in.

Also they have cleared out all the construction equipment and supplies from the back of the building at the loading area. Looks like they are getting ready to do the final paving there.

Getting close!!

Man, that is exciting! I am really looking forward to attending a game there. The 3D pictures are awesome. We fans finally have a basketball venue we can be proud of.

Once we have have an announced effective vaccine that is safe, there will start a new phase for sports. I believe college athletics will go into a 6 month precautionary mode until the vaccine has time to get through the population. Why rush back in a non-safe manner, when things will be so much safer in six months?

Just saying, in the short term I think a vaccine will potentially slow things in the short term as far as college athletics.

On the flip side if there is no vaccine, universities will continue to work on ways to power through in a more aggressive manner
.
So, you think a vaccine will slow things down and no vaccine gets the "damn the torpedoes" philosophy. Interesting.

Based on what is already happening at some schools, it will only take a few more parties to get us to herd immunity. 02-13-banana

The back end of the arena where the loading docks are has been final paved. Looks nice especially with all the equipment and materials out of the way.

The Oxblue cameras have had their views adjusted and they have added a filth camera. You can now clearly see the big exterior sign board that is being built next to Carrier Drive. All the forms are in place and it looks like they are pumping some concrete.

The forms have been removed from the big sign under construction at the front entrance along Carrier Drive. If it was black it would look like the monolith from 2001, A Space Odyssey!!

I ordered my WBB season ticket today. Other than having to sign into the system four times, it was a very easy process.

I loved seeing that most of the reserved seats have been taken - just some single seats here and there. Now to hope for a season with fans!!

Looks like the main video display in the front courtyard (between the Bank and E-hall) is starting to be installed today...or at least they're putting mounting hardware on.

Yup. Looks like some structural supports being installed on the monolith.

Gotta be getting close to finishing everything off I would think. Wonder when the official handover of the building to JMU is?

The arena has seats. At least from what I can see when you walk up to the front doors and look inside.

It definitely does... sister-in-law's dad is a foreman on the job and he briefly FaceTimed with me the other day so I got to see a couple of angles from inside the bowl and club level... I was most impressed with some of the high-end details... ie, the counter/ledges from the suites and club level were calacatta stone.. it is going to be an incredible facility that ushers us into a new era much like BFS did, if not even more.

I'm sure many of you have done this already, but if you haven't, you really need to check out the virtual seating.
If that virtual seating is any indication, there literally is not a bad seat in the entire arena.
Even in the upper seats, the view looks pretty terrific and doesn't seem as far away from the court as I was afraid it might.
I kept imagining what that place would feel like with a packed arena and I got chills. It's a pretty tight arena and hard to imagine that place won't be a nightmare for opposing teams when it is packed with fans.
We just need the teams to meet the moment and elevate.
It's the first time in a very, very, very long time where I am actually optimistic and excited for the future of basketball at JMU.

Probably due to the two big-arse HVAC pipes stuck out in plain view on the arena’s backside. Not enough lube and the arena’s top-hat is turning a pale purple. 03-lmfao

Dude. This building is getting better and better. I can't wait to see it in person once it's done.

I agree. Building this facility (as opposed to finishing BFS) was exactly the right move.

From that picture it looks like a VHS rental store from the 90's. 03-lmfao

From that picture, I don't think it looks that impressive. It doesn't look like the original architectural pictures released when announced. Maybe just a bad picture.

We are going to need some some more " bling" than just those purple lights to cover up those god awful extruding tubes for the HVAC system. why not build a better screen on that side ?
