Who we both gave away games to also. Mobile seems like a pretty good place for a September away game. Reachable in a six hour drive plus you can spend the game day on the beach at Dauphin Island.

I have been to Dauphin Island about 50 times but never for the beach. The water is filthy. But to each his own.

In every metric - financial, attendance, facilities, coaching, national publicity, bowl games, wins, rankings. We were 1 OT game away from a NY bowl. For the first time, we are ranked in the PRESEASON polls. But some are hurt because we're not playing regional SEC games.

If you're after Bowen, stick to the "ruined basketball" argument. In reality, that one is diminishing too. But at least you won't look like a maroon.

Bowen had NOTHING to do with the success of the football program. Fuente turned the program around and Bowen had NOTHING to do with his hire.

But he has EVERYTHING to do with our weaken OOC scheduling. Eliminating our oldest rivalry (63 games) and replaced it with games against school which did not have football team 10 years ago(program founded 2010).

Why not get your nose out of Bowen's ass, it has to stink up there.

All Bowen has done since he has arrived is to take credit for the work of others and apply for other jobs.

Fuente is a good coach and was the perfect hire for us. Simple minded folk think just one coach turned it around.

South Florida gives two away games at Florida to get one home game with Florida.

And we've had fans in the past who wanted to piss away home and home deals with UT and olemiss. As I said numerous times, most of our peers would kill for SEC home and home deals like we've had in the past (and still have with MSU and Mizzou).

This is what you have to do sometimes to get the big games. I have no problem doing this from time to time. You don't have to do it all the time. Southern Miss got a Nebraska deal awhile back by doing it. Its fine.

Why can't USF sell at least 40K tix to their own fans for a home game against the Gators? They drew almost 44K when they hosted Cincy last season.

I don't know, same reason that when I went to the FSU-USF game in 2016, it sounded like we were in Tallahassee.

What was the crowd ratio?

2 to 1 would be my guess but you also had a decent number that were not in colors of either team

The Nebraska deal southern miss has probably keeps their program going
We had a chance to open for Oklahoma, followed by Ohio state. Known as BIG MONEY GAMES
And we said NO

I wonder if we had a poster post this exact strategy earlier in the thread? 04-rock

This is we should do to get a sell out but not with UT or OM. Bowen is playing us for fools with his scheduling strategy. He thinks a win vs UT Martin makes our record look more attractive than with a loss to Oklahoma but I think most of our FB fans are smart enough to know the difference.

He thinks the strategy works because of the upward trend of our FB program which it does if you look at it purely from a record standpoint. I think most years we are not needing a crummy win to qualify for a bowl game. I also think it hurts attendance and some of those games have only drawn pretty becent because they were opening games at 6 or 7 pm because no TV was really interested.

glancing at the Orlando Sent Countdown...

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/co...-rankings/

half of Memphis' schedule is ranked #99-#119

ECU - 119
Ga State - 115
Tulane - 114
Tulsa - 111
UConn - 100
USA - 99

plus, we play FCS Mercer to open the season. That should be 7 Ws right there.

Doesn't matter. We're preseason top 25. Win the AAC with no more than 1-loss and go to the Access Bowl.
