2012 NIU to the Orange Bowl
2015 Toledo blows out #24 Temple in the Boca Raton Bowl
2016 WMU to the Cotton Bowl
Was 2017 a weaker year for the Conference? Yes, had a lot to do with young QB's for most of the teams. 2018 should be a better year for the MAC. Weakest Conference?
No.

MAC seems to usually rank above the SBC and CUSA in computer ratings and some years is pretty close to the MWC.

Spot on. Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl reps 2 of the last 6 years. MAC might be a generally weak conference overall, but the top 1-2 teams every year usually hold their own. Yeah, the MAC lost the Orange and Cotton bowls, but both were tough battles. BTW, looking forward to beating the Rockets' butts in DeKalb this year.

I didn’t realize “The MAC is perceived as the weakest conference,” was such a controversial statement. I even think about it twice when I read it.

The MAC is usually higher in Sagarin ratings than the Sunbelt, and I don't think that most believe MAC is the weakest. Although it's pretty close right now.

The MAC's problem this season is you've got about 7 decent teams and 5 that are bottom 20 out of 130 FBS programs.

I don’t think people put much stock in the Sagarin rankings. As someone who watches college football regularly I can tell you that I never check them. How many people here check the Sagarin rankings on a regular basis?
I do know that the Sun Belt sucks. I do know that the MAC sucks too. It’s splitting hairs as to which one is worse. I don’t even think it’s worthy of this much of a discussion as to which one is worse.

MAC will likely have a couple of top 40 teams. The Sun Belt will not.
