Don't think any FBS schools are willing to play ANY FCS school at the FCS stadium. JMU got WVU at FedEx & that was a coup.

Army traveled to Yale a few years back, but that's the only one I can think of, and it was to commemorate the Yale Bowl's 100th year

Yale won, which might discourage other FBS teams from following Army’s generous example.

Good find!

Other than that you're right, that FBS teams won't go ot FCS teams, it was enough of an anomaly to stick out in my mind. Maybe the occasional school in transition from FCS to FBS winds up with a road FCS game from time to time, but I don't feel like digging through a bunch of seasons to check

RE: 2018 Home Football Game Times
I have mixed feelings about this schedule. On one hand it's not exactly the most fascinating group of schools to play at home. Most students aren't invested in football, and to get them to games it would help to have a school or two they have heard of/are at least in-state.

On the other hand, the main thing in my opinion is to win most of the home games and I think this schedule gives the team a decent chance at 3-4 home wins. There is a sentiment among the student body that our football teams "sucks". That's obviously totally unfair, but that perception leads to students ceasing to come to games aside from maybe homecoming, and leaving early. I think the only way to change that perception is if we have a few wins early in the season at home.

Also, based on what I could find, the last time we had six home games in the regular season was 2014. Shouldn't we be getting six home games again sometime soon?

the students have shown they will support a quality product, whether it is football or basketball. It's not fun to watch a team win 2 football games or 5 basketball games. Just the reality.

Everyone likes a winner, that’s easy to understand. It is a reality. I’ve only been around this program for just five years.

There has been a quality product during the last five years I’ve been associated with the program, granted last year was not a good year. The student support at games was not good at all. Looking across the stadium on Saturday’s there really hasn’t been a big difference in student support.

I don’t think it’s just a WM issue though.

For most schools, it comes down to two *main* things - winning and weather. We've all seen Zable packed vs opponents on this season's schedule.

Only the die-hards attend no matter what.

RE: 2018 Home Football Game Times
The point I'm getting at is I think this raises an interesting question - should we, if we had total control over our situation, *prioritize* playing teams we would beat the vast majority of the time, or playing teams students have heard of? What is ultimately better for attendance?

Of course, it is great if we can have both - Norfolk St., Hampton, and VMI come to mind as teams I think we should play as much as possible.

But that's just me.

Nice! So pleased that you're in for $1.3M to endow the first of 22 additional scholarships! 04-rock

Is it really only $1.3M? Let's pass the hat around and make it happen

To be fair, that's who he said he'd rather see (and wouldn't we all) and not what's realistic but remember with that schedule, we'd be ACC and would get a couple more dollars from television and NCAA revenue.

It’s not the ACC as it was in its prime. We would also be playing Pitt, BC, Louisville etc.

Regional rivalries at the P5 level are done.

This is the platonic ideal of a conference:

1.3 per scholarship, so more like 29 million. Plus the additional 22 women's scholarships you'd need to add

False argument.

If Samantha announced that Tribe was moving to ACC, do you really think there would be a problem raising money for scholarships? I don’t.

The real issue is that there is no institutional will to do this ... I get it. But money to fund that move would not be an issue, IMO.

The fact is that being a member of the CAA is cost-effective, but it also caps revenues because of the competition level.
