Phil Steele 2018
Now that we're in the doldrums of the off-season, it's time for endless speculation and prognostication!

Phil Steele just released his 2018 spring guide:

http://plus.philsteele.com/Blogs/Blog_PD..._Guide.pdf

Included in it are coaching changes, strength of schedule rankings, returning starters, incoming frosh rankings and returning all-conference players.

The biggest takeaway is from his frosh rankings. He has WMU's incoming class as the 56th best class in the country. 1st among G5 teams. By far 1st in the MAC.

Overall MAC incoming frosh rankings:
Western Michigan - 56
Toledo - 83
Northern Illinois - 89
Miami (OH) - 94
Kent State - 95
Bowling Green - 97
Eastern Michigan - 98
Ohio - 100
Akron - 103
Ball State - 112
Central Michigan - 124
Buffalo - 130

Given the results of WMU's recruiting, there should be zero excuses for losing to a shabby Central Michigan program next fall.

CMU has not beaten WMU in "Waldo North" Stadium since the 2010 upset. Gotta keep it that way.

There shouldn't have been any last year either, but yet we found a way to make them. If we lose again this year, I promise there will be more excuses ready.

Me, I'm giving them a mulligan. First year, yada, yada, yada. Some will call them excuses, I call them facts.

This year I expect real results. Period.

TL knows better than most the importance of the CMU game. I don't think they will stumble and embarrass themselves again. That one had to sting. Hope it left a mark.
