Might not be worthy of an AAC invite at this rate.

Quote:But gradually, the patience of KU fans has eroded, and the bottom has fallen out of ticket sales the last three years.

Here’s a look at the numbers:

— 2006: $6.47 million

— 2007: $5.88 million

— 2008: $6.81 million

— 2009: $9.50 million

— 2010: $9.28 million

— 2011: $9.25 million

— 2012: $6.56 million

— 2013: $5.51 million

— 2014: $5.24 million

— 2015: $3.99 million

— 2016: $4.09 million

— 2017: $3.41 million

From their peak in 2009, KU football ticket sales are down by $6.09 million or almost 65 percent.

Attendance and the quality of the on-field product is hopelessly attached. Kansas has the size and facilities to support football. They need to start winning.

Well, they certainly are pushing the limits on acceptability. Right now they couldn't get into a P5 on their own steam. But as a basketball blue blood attached to a football blue blood (either Texas or Oklahoma) they are still a plus and that's what they are relying upon, but IMO to their own potential demise.

If Oklahoma has to take Oklahoma State with them and Texas "wants" another Texas school included then Kansas is going to be in a world of hurt.

As far as their potential value to a P conference with regards to hoops their best two bets are the PAC and SEC both of which are looking to improve their hoops credentials. The ACC doesn't need them and really the Big 10 doesn't either.

Obviously the SEC would prefer Texas and Oklahoma with no tag alongs and then lock the doors. What we would prefer next would be either Texas or Oklahoma along with a new market and a decent brand and in that case Kansas is acceptable. I think the Big 10 feels exactly the same way on these preferences.

So the future of the Jayhawks right now is dependent upon coattails. But, if they can jazz up their facilities and put more money into football recruiting there is no reason they can't average 50,000 and play mid tier football.

Basketball is their saving grace. However, without competitive football, they could see a future similar to that of Connecticut.

They are definitely a tough sale by themselves. But fortunately it's very unlikely anyone but the ACC expands by only one team.

Because of that, their terrible football but great basketball could actually be a plus if paired correctly. Like the combo of just OU and KU would be extremely attractive for the SEC (the B1G too probably) as it gets a King level football and basketball program in two new markets that also consolidate more control of two currently shared markets (DFW and KC)

I think KU falls into its own category.

The BB product is sufficient to overcome the awful FB program.

Besides, KU has shown that with some solid leadership they can actually win. At least it isn't as if KU simply doesn't have the parts.

Kansas needs a major stadium renovation similar to TCU or Baylor. Build a world class stadium with around 50000 seats to get the recruits there. Kansas is right outside a large metro and there is no reason they should not be at least competitive.

KU is the UConn of the Midwest.

They don’t really add enough that Mizzou doesn’t provide. Still, KU needs to make major investments in football before the next round of musical chairs kicks off

Go with Iowa State instead, it has better overall fan support and is a Midwest AAU school! 03-wink

I remember meeting Kansas at Arrowhead in KC when we were both 10-0.
