Since I wasn’t first to start a DH game one thread... and I can’t delete threads ... I can recycle this one as a DH game 2 thread!

See you back here after the opener.

Wow-- interesting lineup. I'm assuming UTSA is throwing another southpaw; otherwise I would expect Gneiting to be in the lineup. Until Dom shows signs of life with his bat, when he's in the lineup he should be no higher than #8, IMO...

RE: Saturday baseball DH game 2
They're starting their regular Friday night starter, and by far their best starting pitcher...

Sr. LHP Steven Dressler: 11 starts, 5-2, 71.2 IP, 2.76 ERA, .241 BAA, 23 BBs, 42 Ks

...Last week he through a complete game 1-hit shutout vs. MTSU. Your prototypical soft-tossing southpaw if there ever was one. Note he's averaging just a little over .5 Ks per IP. Solid control, and has only given up 13 extrabase hits. Off-speed pitches. Ground ball pitcher. Just the type that usually drives us crazy...unless we ever learn to make the adjustments-- stay back in the box and go the other way with the pitches.

Time will tell.

Proctor grounded out.
Chandler struck out. Ford and Ryan are 1-11 so far today after hardly making any outs all of last weekend.
Cruz grounded out to 3B. Again, if we try to pull this guy we're going to hit ground ball after ground ball after ground ball. Let's play smart and make the adjustment!

"... you missed the game ... and, more importantly, the game program!"

I suspect that the person who wrote this PSA didn't post it onto his resume.

T2:

Dunlap doubles, but is caught off-base after Comeaux's grounder to SS. Comeaux made it to 2nd, however!

Collins single ... "he's been on base 8 consecutive at bats!" Comeaux to 3rd.

Cox Ks on 2-2 pitch.

Sarchet pulls a 1-0 grounder to first ... unassisted. 2 LOB., Grrr.

Scoreless ... heading to B2.

Defense errors cost us all three runs in the first game, and now a baserunning error costs us a run in the night cap. Can't we have a single game of errorless, fundamental baseball? Is that really too much to ask?

It certainly does seem that this year we've been picked off, tagged on an overslide, or caught in-between bases more than in any year I can remember. Is there a stat for that?

Addison walks a batter, but no further damage in bottom of 2nd inning.

Frazier leadoff walk.
Proctor (who's below .380 for first time this year) struck out on 3 pitches. Good gawd. A guy averaging .5 Ks per IP already has 3 Ks against us in 2.1 IP.
Frazier advances to 2B on wild pitch.
Chandler (who has hit nothing but weak grounders all day so far) gotta put the ball in play here...clutch, 2-strike, RBI double! 02-13-banana
Cruz answers with an RBI double of his own! 02-13-banana
Dunlap first pitch fly out to deep LF. Runner on 2B, two outs.
Comeaux first pitch fly out to CF.

Good guys take a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the third inning.

Addison stranded a runner at 3B (double, wild pitch), and is up to 4 strikeoutsKKKK.

Collins grounds out to 1B. We're doing an awful lot of first pitch swinging in this game.
Cox grounded out to 3B.
Sarchet infield single (on a pop up that falls behind the mound!). Two outs.
Frazier walked again. Runners on 1B and 2B, two outs. Time for Ford to break out of his mini-funk...
Proctor clutch, opposite field RBI double! 02-13-banana Runners on 2B and 3B, two outs.
Chandler struck out.

Good guys take a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning.

RE: Saturday baseball DH game 2
Addison gives up a one-out single, but stands him at 1B while striking out the side. Quite a difference in Matt and Addison from last weekend. Though both pitched very well against FAU, Matt tallied only 4 Ks (vs. 11 today) and Addison had just one (vs. 7 Ks in 4 IP so far tonight).

Cruz struck out.
Dunlap singles. Runner on 1B, one out.
Comeaux flied out. Two outs.
Collins popped up to 2B.

Good guys lead 3-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning.

Moss gives up back to back one-out sinigles to the #8 and #9 hitters, but an infield fly and then another strikeoutKKKKKKKKK allows him to escape unscathed.

Cox grounded out to 3B.
Sarchet grounded out to 2B.
Frazier walked a third consecutive time! And Dressler is now over 100 pitches.
Proctor grounded out.

Good guys lead 3-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning.

RE: Saturday baseball DH game 2
1-2-3 inning for Addison, who's now up to 90 pitches. Has career high 9 strikeouts. I suspect next inning will be his last.

New pitcher for UTSA, and he's their second best reliever, but has control issues-- Rodriguez (15 app, 1-1, 19.0 IP, 1.89 ERA, .232 BAA, 18 BBs, 14Ks). Time for patience...
Chandler struck out.
Cruz struck out on 3 pitches. Why are we striking at such a high frequency tonight against non-strikeout pitchers?
Dunlap struck out. Good grief. 10 Ks so far in 7 innings against non-strikeout pitchers.
Bats have gone into a coma the past 3 innings.

Good guys lead 3-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning.

RE: Saturday baseball DH game 2
And just like that we're all tied up. Addison lost his control going into the top of the 7th. Leadoff single, HBP, K, WP (moving both runners into scoring position), K, then fell behind 3-1 before grooving one for the 3-run bomb. Tough way to go out as he was dominant tonight, with his 11 Ks 3 more than his previous career high...and 3 of the 6 hits were infield variety.

Acker is in. Another puzzling move since he pitched two full innings on Wednesday, whereas Gayle pitched just one inning.
