Scharping/Smith on Pro Football Focus 2019 NFL Draft Watch List
Pro Football Focus projects big things for Max Scharping and Sutton Smith. No matter how the season goes overall, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of watching these two play. Hope Smith doesn't leave early!
Other notes from the list: 3 MAC players total (WR from Buffalo). Only 7 other teams with 2 players on the list (Michigan has 3), and one of those is Duke.

Smith's production certainly puts him in elite status, but he would greatly benefit by staying two more years to reach his ideal weight. However, if he has another monster year like he did last year, can anyone blame him for wanting to cash in?

Definitely wouldn't blame him for wanting to cash in. As the article points out, Sutton's biggest challenge will be his position. No way he'll be a DE in the pros, so his size right now (I understand he's added some weight while retaining his burst) might be about right for LB in the NFL. He's about as big as the two LBs the Bears just drafted. While he's been dominant at DE for the Huskies, maybe they should let him develop some at linebacker. Sure wouldn't hurt the team, might be good for his future prospects, and might increase the chances of him not transferring as a grad student or leaving early for the pros.
