Nope, correspondence between two public employees about a public office is all part of the public record. This would've come out in a FOIA by the local press anyways...this just seems like someone wanted to get a head start on the pony show.

Under IRS Code a Golden parachute is only deductible if it is 3 years or less. But college can do anything. She is getting a 4(four) year feather bed deal for under a year of horrible performance.

My only contact with her was over a letter taking about "Diversity" as a goal. I argued that opportunity for all was good and if it resulted in "Diversity" OK. The most recent 3 UC presidents were minorities and I only had a problem with Williams over his handling of the BE situation.

I have never seen such a damning firing.

Here's a column from the local rag in Knoxville about how Tennessee should never hire anyone from Cincinnati again. I'm far from being one to stand up for Bev (she was an underwhelming candidate at best), but this dude is blaming Cincinnati for all his problems when Tennessee hasn't been relevant in football for alooooong time. I wonder if this dips*** has left his holler recently.

Good... I don’t want those guys chasing after any of our coaches or administrators again.

As to Bev, she wasn’t a fit there or here to lead the university. She would fit in well to lead a small liberal arts college with her background. I think she was a reactionary hire at UT following various scandals involving allegations made by women.

Yeah, let's blame someone else for your improper hiring decisions. UT seems to whiff on all their hires, no matter where they were recruited from.

Note to Tenn - thank you for hiring Beverly Davenport. You saved us a boatload of cash as well as the embarrassment. You will be rewarded with a congratulatory fruit cake.

That's kind of a shining example of how to exhibit your stupidity.

He's kind of glossing over all the other issues they had prior to them arriving. Hasn't exactly been a well oiled machine for quite some time. Dave Hart is a shining example of that.

Kinda surprised that the University of Texas hasn't had a similar backlash with their "Masculinity is a Disorder Course" ... Evidently, Austin has become very liberal.... These schools need to balance their extreme liberal administrators and professors with an equal
number of conservatives...

Tennessee has been an utter mess in every aspect since a boatload of NE Liberals took over the University, BOT and everything else in the early 2000's. That's why you saw them make terrible hire after terrible hire. They brought in people who were totally unqualified for their positions, with Davenport a shining example of that. Their mindset was they could not rise in the academic world without bringing in an influx of academians from outside the south. When that happened the cultural and traditional values of the University changed for the worse. What's funny is almost 2 decades later they are still below several other SEC schools academically who never sold out to that philosophy.Fortunately, there are people in power now who are trying to change things and get back to what the University once was. It may be too late though.

Was she the wrong hire? Yes...but to say that someone with 5 years as a VPFA at Purdue where she oversaw that largest faculty hiring initiative ever in the state of Indiana (roughly $70M) while still managing all research and faculty operations and 3 years as a Provost at Cincinnati (a top 25 school by enrollment, larger than Tennessee mind you, and top 50 in research revenue) where she oversaw the largest research revenue expansion in history is totally unqualified to be a campus chancellor for the University of Tennessee system is pretty off-base.
