South Alabama really hurt themselves with that series loss to StAte.

I'd say Troy is still in good shape, but the next few OOC games against Auburn, Mississippi State, and Jacksonville State will be important.

Agree. Right now the thing hurting Troy is their 3-7 record against the Top 50 of the RPI. They could use a couple of signature wins.

But winning in the conference is big, too. If Troy can go 7-2 the rest of the way, that'll help greatly.

Troy would also love for South Alabama and Louisiana to get in the top 50.

Don't look now, but we've just won six of the last eight including going 4-0 against RPI #62 and #69. Going to be a good series in Statesboro this weekend.

We—GS— have no chance other than to win tourney. It would be a shame this year if we only had 1 Belt team in regionals

Yes it is. Troy won't be overlooking you either.

The good thing for Troy is we may have found our Sunday starter... Levi Thomas was one of our best relief pitchers (if not the best). Last Sunday they moved him into the starting role and he did a great job. So hopefully this will help Troy to win their last three series.

I sort of smiled inside that we might have knocked South out of the NCAA's.

It's just sort of amusing that we destroyed their RPI.

Troys is probably this leagues best hope to make a regional outside of coastal with our RPI at 40
South has dropped into the 60s

Sucks for South. If they went undefeated from here on out, they could get an at-large probably. Obviously, that means they'd have to sweep Troy... and I don't want that to happen.

We still have a lot of RPI games left to play, and one of the toughest OOC SOS in the country. I expect us to get back in the top 50, still might not be enough though. We have Auburn next week which is now a must win, as well as the series between LR and Troy (we need to win both and likely sweep one - which I don't see happening with our pitching).

I'm not sure Troy has the resume right now either though. You guys are in the same boat with a poor record against top 50 RPI teams. You probably need to beat at least one of MSU or Auburn. Win both and don't collapse down the stretch and you're in, IMO. Lose both, and you'll be sweating with us as regionals are announced (assuming you don't win the tourney).

This season has been a major disappointment. Injuries have derailed our season. Our original Friday night starter is out for the season, as well as the guy who was eventually promoted to a Friday night starter (didn't make it through his first outing as Friday night pitcher), and a handful of other contributing pitchers.

We also lost all-SBC SS Drew LaBounty before the season even started, as well as Colton Thomas who hit .327 last year with a .505 slug% and .444OBP. We also lost Eddie Paparella before the season who was one of our sluggers and started most games last year.

South has played a great OOC schedule (#13)...but it only ranks fourth in the league

LOUISIANA-6
CCU-7
GA SO-12
USA-13.
UTA-38
TROY 50

So long we sweep ULM. And atleast take the series against GSU and USA I think we have a good shot to get in. Beating Auburn at home or Mississippi State away would just make it that much easier.

Auburn has #6 RPI and we almost pulled it off early in the season... having Auburn at home Infront of a packed house will help.

Were I you, I'd be much more comfortable if my RPI was inside the top 40 with your SOS. I've seen plenty of teams left out with that resume. JMO

I know Ole Miss was left out last year with a #37 and Connecticut with a #38.

RE: D1 baseball regional projections — 5/1
As of today 5/2 I would put the Belt teams in this order as far as likelihood of going to a regional as an at- large selection

1. Coastal. It would take a collapse to keep them out and I would put the odds at about 60 % right now that they host
2. Troy . RPI is good but need to finish well. I put odds of them getting in right now at around 60-65%
3 Louisiana. On the outside right now but have a chance. Need to finish strong and maybe get to championship game. I would put their chance right now at 45-50%
4 South Alabama. Fading but I think still with a chance. Right now I would put the chance of going to a regional at 30-35%
5. Little Rock. I don t see much likelihood of an at-large— maybe 20%

Everyone else has to win tourney to go
