RE: ODU Football Opponent Preview: ECU
ECU's defense is much better than anyone expected after the new hire. Hopefully, we will find some ways to move the ball. Their offense is not very good so hopefully, the defense will make plays.

Not sure why this game makes me feel nervous. VT better beat Duke. If they don't, our win over them won't mean much anymore and prove VT was overrated.

We better be prepared for this because i don't think we will have match up advantages we have had vs VT with our Tall Wide outs vs VT's short and young Corners. How good wilder motivates these kids against the pirates will be the difference along with the game plan.

Indeed
3 of 4 starting ECU dbs (safeties and CBs) are 6' one is 5'10". The NB is 5'11".
Only one Sophomore, the rest are Jrs and Srs

ECU has a very strong QB and stable of WRs. The remind me of Liberty on offense. Also their DBs/Safeties are likely the best of the 4 teams we have seen thus far. Besides their slip in game 1, ECU have blistered their other opponents. This will be both a challenge mentally and physically.

ECU has been horrible since the staff changes. I see no reason that changes for this particular game.

Their SBNation season-preview headline is :"Scotty Montgomery needs a miracle"

W for the good guys.

We only needed 1.8% to beat VT, now they've given us 28.6%. We win by 7 million.

Srsly? This game is full of flip-flopping wiffle-waffles and I honest to god have no idea what to think about an 0-3 team that beats Tech vs an 0-3 (cmon the dub was Carolina) team that ran away from Tech.

They do not have a good offense. Cant let them convert 3rd downs

They have a very good offense. Just ask UNC and USF.

3.6 yards per rush and 5.8 yards per pass is not good. 53% completion % is not good.

Its much worse than our offense.

I love the timing of this match up. ECU and their fans are going to be pumped for this game and so will our players and fans. It should be an electric match up given the circumstances. This would be another huge win.

They are feeling very good about their team with the Home win against TarHoles and a good fight they put up in Tampa vs USF. Their game with VT would've been a good one to measure but since it got cancelled we don't know what the hell we are walking into and they don't know which Monarchs show up in Greenville. This one will be a good one.

One rushing play and one passing play is essentially a first down? That doesn't sound awful.

Average is about 4.2 yards per carry and 7.2 yards per passing attempt.

Three star starter, 6'3" Sophomore Pro Style QB Reid Herring is a good QB, but young and not yet extraordinary. He is no threat to run at all.
Ultimately three star 6'4" 240 lb Dual Threat Freshman Holton Ahlers is going to scare people. Probably not this year( I hope).

ECU has four primary receivers.
The ECU go-to receiver is two star 6' 2" senior Trevon Brown. He is a potential NFL prospect.
Three star Junior, 6'1" Deondre Farrier is the also a good receiver and more or less the number two.
Two star Freshman, 6'1" Blake Proehl will be good as he matures. He could become the #2 receiver soon if he is not already.
Two star Senior, 6'4" Terrell Green rounds out a good sized group.

These tall receivers could bother our DBs like we did to those of VT.

However, Herring has heretofore not shown the ability to "finish". He not a scrambler either.
IMLO, a lot will depend the pressure we can put on him.

I still cannot shake the scary feeling I am getting about QB Holton Ahlers. I am glad he is just a Freshman.

What are the Vegas odds for this game?

Because I dare say that they haven't gotten an ODU game correct this season.

Herring has not practiced this week according to ECU 247 site.

As an aside, have we released our depth chart for this week?

RE: ODU Football Opponent Preview: ECU
This is Liberty all over again. Herring will get the ball out quickly, neutralizing the pass rush. They are going to move the ball easily. ODU's D is giving us 500+ yards a game so that shouldn't come as a surprise. We will need another stellar performance from the offense to pull this out.
