Excellent, we have a toe hold and are now finally in the "9 figures" club! Great to hear.

I’ve not been a huge fan of Alger for many reasons, but he is the head of my university and when my university has a success to boast, I’ll give him at least some credit. When you’re in charge you take the criticisms and rarely get praise. So, thank you Dr. Alger for doubling our endowment while you’ve been President. I hope that you can double it several more times during your tenure.

Doubling? Were we not at $60M upon his arrival? At least that's what I thought. The real answer is how much of the increase during his 5 - 6 years has been gifted vs increase in value of the investments.

believe or not, I have heard Alger is a very effective fund raiser. While he may not strike a cord with the athletically minded on this board, from what I have heard, academia loves him and he has raised a significant amount of grant and research money.

academia probably loves him for just that, his opposition of athletics.

I do not think he is opposed to athletics; he is often seen at JMU sporting events. He may not have the same level of... enthusiasm, shall we say?... as some of the more sports centric on here, but I have no doubt he wants what is best for JMU, though there are some differences between what he believes is best, and what I believe is best.

The man shows up to almost every major athletic event and maybe even more that i'm just not realizing. He cares about our athletics programs. He's just not sold that the Sun Belt is our best option, which has also been our only option during his tenure.

Ron Carrier turned down the A10 and fired Lefty Driesell, just saying.

That is a powerful statement.

That is a powerful statement.

But an accurate statement. The A10 wanted Richmond & JMU back in the day.

Yes, I knew it was accurate. The So Con also wanted JMU, W&M and UR for all sports back then too. Would have happened if UR did not boycott the move.

The So Con was much more dominant back then. They were what the CAA became from 2003-2009.

I was not aware that the A10 wanted both schools as a package deal. I was thinking the invite was to JMU only.
