Interesting that they pushed Porter down to 9. Parrish mentioned on his show yesterday that Porter does not have to release his medical report to teams. So if he doesn't want to go to the Grizzlies he just won't give a medical report.

If I'm drafting Porter, I'm having Dr James Andrews, Dr Ben Carson, Dr Richard Kimble, Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, and Doogie Howser MD all do a full workup.

Good luck tracking down Dr. Kimble!

RE: Trade the pick
Would anyone think this would be a good trade back?................

First, would either of these team do one of these (do they seem pretty fair), and

Second, I think the Grizz could get a couple of valuable pieces and value...what say you?

Grizz trade the 4th pick to the Bulls for the 7th and the 22nd? Pretty significant separation between top 4-5 and afterwards. The Grizz could still get a somewhat impact player immediately at 7 and probably a solid bench contributor at 22?

Grizz trade the 4th pick to Clippers for 12th and 13th? This may be too pricey for the Clippers. I don't know. Moving up 8 spots is pretty valuable, but is the additional 13th pick worth the 4th pick?

What do others think? No way either of those teams do that because the price is too steep?

Highly doubt the Bulls or Clips agree to that. Way too steep a price. If either fell in love with a specific player, I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat, esp with the Bulls.

The more I watch tape, the more I fall in love with mikal bridges. If doncic doesn't fall, I'd love to trade down to the Knicks or the Bulls for him. Especially if we get another first rounder or future first. He's 21 but can defend, is sthletic and long, and man oh man what a sweet stroke. I think his ceiling is kawhi Leonard and floor is ariza. Not too bad.

As of now, we have no one that can guard the alphas of the league. He can.

No doubt Bridges has some impressive highlights. Would be surprised if we end up with him, but he looks like a solid player.

If we can unload parson's contract with that draft pick then I'm all for it. No Ayton or Doncic so I don't think that draft pick will make us better.

Grizz need to swing for the fence

Jackson Jr. may be the safe pick at #4 but we need a transcendent talent - IMO, Bagley, Doncic, Porter Jr

We'll have a shot of at least one of these guys, guaranteed

RE: Trade the pick
I read an intersting article from a Sun's blog earlier today. In the scenario, Phoenix would aquire our number four pick. I think the proposal was we get TJ Warren, Tyson Chandler (expiring deal), the 16th pick, the 31st pick, and their first rounder next year in exchange for the number 4 and Chandler Parsons. I don't think I could say yes fast enough. We would have the assets to move up from 16 to select one of the bridges but TJ warren gives us the best wing we've had in years so that might not be neccessary. We would most likely have a lottery pick next year and if sucked again we would have two. Not to mention 38 million off the books come the end of next season.

I'd stay at 4 if doncic fell. If he doesnt and you can fleece someone in a trade, you do it.

I’m not a fan of trading down. This isn’t the NFL

If we draft Porter, Young, JJJ, Bagley or Bamba and they live up to their draft position they will be more valuable than any haul we can get

That would be a horrible deal for the Grizzlies imo. Porter's upside is too big to trade contracts for a #16 this year and say a #15 next year.

It's not like Parsons contract is going to last but two more years and he has every reason to produce now if he wants another contract with anyone else.

We don't need Chandler and TJ Warren can't make a 3. We give up on Parsons when he should finally be motivated to play basketball and produce a roi.

Just not intrigued at all by this trade scenario at all if I'm Memphis. People will still trade for Parsons expiring contract next season if he can't or doesn't produce.

Given our 4 pick I want to see a healthy Conley, Evans, Parsons, Porter and Gasol on the floor for the Grizz.

If Parsons can't go we suit up Conley, Evans, Porter, Green and Gasol.

Either way give me Porter Jr. in a Grizz uniform. Probably not going to find a franchise type player at #16. By all accounts Michael Porter Jr. should be fully recovered and he is that good.

Trade down conditionally, if you are certain the guy you want can be drafted at a certain lower position. Orlando traded to Golden State only on condition GS drafted Penny. Essentially, in that case, you are trading players, not picks.

Otherwise, do as Boston does, and draft the best player on your board, not the conventional wisdom best player. Of course, your assessment and medical teams need to be as good as Boston's, as well as your management team.

Too many people are preoccupied with a draft day splash. Like winning the first press conference for a coach, it is nore style than substance. Make the splash on the court in February, March, April. Ignore making the splash on draft day. Porzingis, Penny, were both booed on draft day.

RE: Trade the pick
I'd be willing to trade down, but I wouldn't want to go past 10-12. I think either of the Bridges have very high floors, and will be long time 3 and D contributors in the league. I'd like Philly's 10 and 26 for our 4, and drafting either Miles or Mikal at 10. I don't see much downside in their game and there is enough bust potential for Bomba, Jackson, and Young. Porters health makes me take pause too, but I like him the most of all the guys we could possibly take at 4.

The intriguing part of the deal is the #1 pick next year. I like Warren as a scorer and I could see him fitting with the Grizz. PHX was the worst team in the league this year, lose Warren and add #1 and #4, with all that youth, I'm fairly certain they are in the lottery again next year.

Maybe they are tired of Marquese Chriss and you could get them to put him in the deal, especially if they have their sites set on a PF in the draft, . He's still super young.

If you could get Chriss, Warren, this year's 16 and 31, and PHX first next year in exchange for the #4 and Parsons, that seems like a deal that would be hard to pass up, unless you just feel that whoever you get at 4 is going to be a star.

I'm not sure what I'd do, but I would have to really watch a ton of film before I pulled the trigger on anything.
