The video was on ABC evening news today. They didn't say he was a former Toledo player. Mentioned that he would have reckless driving charges against him.

1) You are not going to "pass out" after being choked for 5 seconds
2) Typically, people who claim to be not resisting, fighting back, etc. in these scenarios, are usually the ones fighting back. Just because you say you're not fighting back, doesn't mean you aren't.
3) Of course he doesn't have video of the beginning where he was threatening the officers. Only the end when they are arresting him.

Why anyone would ever want to be a cop in this day and age is beyond me. But thank God we have politicians and lawyers around to make sure the laws are being upheld [sarcasm alert]

Just watching the video angered me at the way he was being treated. Didn't see any reason for him to be handled that roughly. Then you read the article and you start to understand a lot went on prior to when the video was started (or at least what is shown).
If you fight with police, try to escape, and avoid being arrested and restrained - you are just begging to be handled in a manner that the police believe is necessary to bring the situation under control. Even still, it looked like it was under control after he was cuffed and was being led away when they rammed him up against the truck, then slammed him to the ground. I would suspect at some point the police just get irritated and tired of a suspect struggling and resisting arrest along with other antics. The problem is - they cannot lose their composure once the suspect is restrained. By keeping their composure - they can prevent the suspect from making things worse for himself on the charges he keeps adding to the original crime(s) he already committed that got him arrested in the first place. The way this plays out, the police officer got fired and likely a civil suit will follow against him and the police department.
Once it is caught on video - it is difficult to add any context that makes it justifiable once the perception is placed in people's minds of what is going on.

The witness quoted seemed to think Marrow deserved to be arrested but hat the police then got out of hand. I’ve seen that before and don’t understand it. Neither party comes out looking very good. I once watched a Sylvania cop hit a guy with a nightstick forty two times and every blow was extremely controlled and, IMO, necessary as the guy refused to stop fighting. After he finally got the guy cuffed, the suspect THANKED him for not hurting him worse and the officer was giving the guy referrals for anger management. I figure that officer went far, or should have, but he demonstrated what is possible.
