SBC 2018 NFL Draft Thread
Let's keep all of the draft news in one thread. It's a whole lot easier for folks to reply and comment than 9 or 10 different ones.

Our running back LA Ramsby has a good shot to make a roster for us, and receiver Myles Campbell should make it to a camp. Tyson Summers pretty much torpedoed the former's chances of being drafted like he did to Matt Breida (who averaged more yards per carry in the NFL last year than he did for Tyson Summers in 2016).

Should have posted this tomorrow some time. We will be lucky to see our guys by then despite the proven ability of these men to perform at the next level.

Decided to get ahead of the curve before a bunch of threads started. Now people know it's here.

Not trying to be difficult. More an observation on the lack of respect for all our guys.

It's not a lack of respect . . . It's simply reflective of "The Pecking Order."

The best players out of HS tend to go to P5 schools . . .

The best players out of college tend to come from P5 schools. . . .

. . . and so goes the First Round of the NFL Draft.

UTSA had a former two-star player go in the first round. Hurray for undervalued high school football players.

Gawd. I hope he goes to the LA Rams.

I don’t expect any of ours to be drafted. We haven’t had a player drafted in several years.

Didn't you guys have a long streak of having players drafted each year? Ouch.

I'm guessing some of your former coaches knew they weren't going to be at Ark State long and weren't good stewards of the roster.

Not exactly about players but it was awesome to see Ryan Shazier last night. Yes, I'll admit I cried. That man has come so damn far in a few short months. God Bless him.

1. My daughter is the head pharm tech where he was hospitalized so I know some of what he went through.

2. His fiancee is a TXST alum.

I enjoyed watching the draft with some App State flavor. They talked about the new Arizona Cardinals coach Steve Wilks (played football at App) and many of the discussions were being led by none other than Daniel Jeremiah (former App qb).

We had an 8 year stretch that ended in 2013 or 2014. Haven't had one since.

I don't think it has a ton to do with anything though. I think its mostly just a general lack of respect for this level of football. Javon Roland Jones would have set the NCAA Career sack record if not for a facemask penalty away from the play, but he's probably not getting picked. Scouts think he's too small for the next level, and there were questions about the level of competition he did it against. We've had a few different guys go undrafted and make NFL rosters since. But none got a pick used on them.

Its not like I think our team is less talented.

It's hard for me to see there being a bias against the G5 when 5 G5 players go in the first round.

But I'll also say that number of players on NFL rosters isn't everything. Harvard has more players on NFL rosters than probably any team in this conference but they'd get boat-raced by most of the teams in the league most years.

Georgia Southern fans certainly understand having those undersized players not getting looks, too. We had a running back with 5,000+ career rushing yards that apparently didn't even get a look. He was short, but man he packed a wallop.

I guess the NFL should be fantastic next season because every guy getting drafted is the "Best I've ever seen" at his position, in the history of football.
