RE: Bickerstaff officially hired.
I'm glad they're giving him a chance. His record last year was not a true reflection of his ability as the front office had him handcuffed. I do get tired of people like Peter Edmiston and Ron Tillery that complain the Grizz aren't committed to winning because they won't pay (overpay in my words) for head coaching. Doc Rivers (10 mill) Scott Brooks (7 mill) Tyronn Lue (7 mill) are just a few of the examples of wasted head coaching salaries. A good NBA coach gets the players to 'buy in, trust and listen' and then carry those actions out to the court. I think Bickerstaff has the players trust now. I know it can change quickly. I remember how after initial great success the team turned on Hubie Brown in 2004 forcing his resignation then after his replacement, Mike Fratello, also had initial success the team turned on him getting him fired in early 2007.
Anyhow, I'm glad they're retaining Bickerstaff and I'm glad they're not throwing away money overpaying a retread veteran coach.

I agree 450.

The GBB guys and Tillery and Edmiston will whine. But most others seem to support the hire.

And why conduct a search if the FO has made their decision? JB worked well with the young guys. The veterans like and support him. JB was a good soldier after the FO decided to tank. Doesn't take shots at his employers like Lionel and Yoerger did.

Doc Rivers was overpaid as compensation for handling things well during the Sterling scandal.

Scott Brooks got overpaid when the Wizards were trying to make a play for Kevin Durant being his hometown team and Brooks was supposed to be a head coach he could play for.

Tyronn Lue got overpaid the same reason Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, and Iman Shumpert were overpaid; because it’s what LBJ wanted and Cleveland wanted to appease LBJ.

Every overpaid coach has a reason that they are overpaid, that's not the point.

Point is if Grizz FO thinks JB is as good as Lue or Brooks, just not as experienced, then give him a chance. No need to pay $5M per season for the retread on his 3rd job.

Why would a fan care if their team overpaid for a coach?

Teams less likely to move on from overpaid, underperforming head coaches with years left on contract.

Based on the message of today’s introductory press conference, doesn’t sound like the Grizz are in rebuild mode. They want to win now.

I’d argue the cap situation, along with the roster, won’t allow that. Here’s to hoping our rookie will have a Donovan Mitchell impact.

I don't care what they pay the coach, I'm not paying it and it does not count towards cap

I would rather have a good CV coach be overpaid than a bargain coach, but I guess a $7 million per year coach might be harder to fire
