How would a black party... one that specifically represented black interests benefit black society? They'd rarely get elected... because 'black' issues only impact perhaps 11% of the population?

Aren't there issues that affect black people that similarly affect whites and hispanics (or some subset thereof that could create some political power?)

I'd fully support 'lobbyists for black issues like lobbyists for gay issues... but I just don't see that a party that by definition works for the interests of only 11% of the population will ever get more than perhaps 25% of the vote.....

which only leads to Gerrymandering to create representation for them that will only be over-ruled by the larger majorities, giving the impression of power with no real power... or to eliminate any representation at all other than as it equally benefits people who may share some social or economic, but not racial characteristics.

I just don't see how a minority group ever gains any real power unless it connects to other groups over specific issues so as to make a majority.
