Purely looking at it from a cynical numbers point of view

I don’t understand where your question comes from. Why should they what?

Sorry... why should Republicans reach out to them any more than they reach out to Asian Americans or any other SPECIFIC minority.

By reaching out, I mean favor policies that favor black Americans over Asian or Hispanic or White Americans.

I don’t know. That’s why I said joining with the republicans is also a bad idea.

I do think there’s a fallacy in defining “reaching out” that way, though. That’s building a wall that doesn’t necessarily have to be there.

I think that's exactly what 'reaching out' almost by definition does.

We can debate whether Republican or Democrat policies are 'best for everyone in general', but African Americans are the only sub-group I can think of... White, male, female, hispanic, gay, blonde, tall, asian, freckled, religious etc that has been 'in the tank' for one party for as long as African Americans have.

It seems that either party should get 20% or so of the vote of any subgroup merely based on economic opinions. Trump/Pence received 20% of the LGBT vote

Reaching out doesn’t have to favor anyone over the others. Establishing common ground is a good first step.

I personally think there would be a lot more black republicans today if the party sought out that common ground 20 years ago.

It’s not all the Republicans fault though. There is a certain amount of stubbornness around all proud people. I won’t get into much else because of this forum’s demographics, I’d take it to PM or something.
