RE: P5 Team Abusing the System
Six matches in one day is intense.
I was kind of surprised that Tennessee State agreed to it in the first place. However, per the article:
A) The women from Tennessee State rarely get to play against SEC caliber.
B) Arkansas paid them $15,000.... Which at first doesn't sound like all that much. But it's over half of Tennessee State's Women's Tennis operating budget.
Still six games in one day is a lotttttt.

That's shady. The NCAA should blackball Arkansas from this year's tournament.

The strangest part to me is how apparently tennis they must schedule whenever they feel like. What kind of weird system is that? Arkansas and Tennessee State can just decide to schedule 6 matches at any time and play them? Are there any other sports like that? How strange.

I have seen it in high school baseball where a team had a star player ejected in a regional semi-final game. The player then had to sit out the next game.
So his coach called a school up, offered to play them the next day, the star player sat out that game, and then played in the regional finals.
I believe it was even discussed on this board four or five years ago.

Yes, I think the 'scheduling "random" matches' in the middle of the season and having them count to the ranking and record is the sketchy part.
Depending on how good Tennessee St's year was, I don't think it should have any consideration on Arkansas's rankings.
But Tennessee St agreed to it so the scheduling in itself isn't the sketchy part. It's the having them possibly count to the ranking and record.

If the NCAA considers a .500 team, even an SEC team, for an at-large bid there are problems to start with. Add the fact that they were really six games BELOW and the NCAA and Arkansas should be totally embarrassed (Arkansas should already be) if the RBs get in. It would be the second biggest travesty in the history of NCAA sports, well behind the Syracuse missed extra point versus Toledo that was called good on the field and in review, but ahead of everything else.

I forgot about this!
There was also the Orange Bowl with NIU: On the close, 'is it a first down' plays, they called them first downs for Florida St, 4th downs for Northern Illinois.
