RE: ESPN 2018 Football Power Index
#95 and projecting 7-5. Wish their ranking were higher but it's difficult to debate that record.

By CUSA ranking:
1) Marshall - #65 - 8-4
2) FAU - #69 - 8-4
3) La Tech - #75 - 8-4
4) MTSU - #83 - 7-5
5) N. Tx - #88 - 8-4
6) UAB - #95 - 7-5
7) So. Miss - #106 - 6-6
8) UTSA - #111 - 4-8
9) ODU - #112 - 5-7
10) WKU - #113 - 5-7
11) FIU - #115 - 5-7
12) Charlotte - #121 - 4-8
13) Rice - #128 - 3-9
14) UTEP - #130 - 2-10

Rounded some of these numbers the best I could. Still don't understand how ESPN hasn't fixed this system to realize there are only 12 games possible.

First thoughts: that seems low for FAU. Glad that FPI recognizes that FAU is only about as good as 4-8 Rutgers, 4-8 Indiana, 5-7 Maryland, 5-7 Illinois. Anyone else surprised that FIU is that low? We're talking about Butch Davis recruiting the Miami area, he also hit 8 wins last year so did they graduate a lot of talent or something?

I assume the numbers include some formula for teams making conference championship games.

I agree with the record, #95 is a fair place until we see this team in action.

That's what I had originally thought as well, but all of the probabilities should add up to 12 (or 13 if they're factoring in conference championship) and they don't. Alabama was 12.6 total games and Georgia was 12.8 total games.

They’re running 10,000 simulations. In some of those a given team makes its conference title game and some of them it doesn’t. Fractional games are unavoidable.

If the four top C-USA are predicted at 8-4, it suggests that UAB's predicted 7-5 has great potential for advancement than being #6 in conference. A flip of only one game ties UAB for #1.

That works for me. Coach was smart these first few years back. Next year we can start to challenge ourselves a little bit i think.

Its the conference schedule that's of most concern and we have no control over that. I, too, prefer to have this sort of schedule so we can build upward with positivity, but...

RE: ESPN 2018 Football Power Index
Good signs for C-USA in football are the FAU coach who really turned their program upward, and the NFL drafting of the UTSA player (among several SEC players) in the first round yesterday. This can lead to better players coming into the conference at more teams in the future.
