Gallup poll on GOP tax cut
Gallup Poll on GOP tax-cut: 39% approve, 52% disapprove

Now 1% really really really approves............

Reading around here you thought that this tax cut was the best thing since sliced bread. Glad other people are just upset about it as me. 21 trillion in debt and these numb skulls give a giant give away to the donor class.

RE: Gallup poll on GOP tax cut
ffs mach

Quote:Republicans have been increasingly more positive about their federal income taxes since Trump took office last year. This positivity has been enough to drop Americans' concern that their own taxes are too high below the majority level for the first time since 2012.

With a majority of all Americans viewing the new tax law unfavorably, the lack of their awareness about whether their own taxes have decreased under the new law may be a good thing for the president.

So, 100% of the 45% of americans who pay federal taxes all think they pay too much in federal taxes. Nice chart.

Are you asking or telling?

I would think that so far, it's a pretty big certainty that revenues have decreased.

Regardless, it's way too early to tell with any degree of certainty whether this will be a good thing or a bad thing.

This is my favorite part. Over half of those surveyed either haven't looked at a pay stub to see the immediate impact, or bothered to research what the net gain/loss will be after factoring in local and state taxes. Pathetic.

Oh? Where are you seeing these reduced revenues?

You can see the revenues being collected in various places, but I have not seen anything yet to say with a certainty whether they have increased or decreased. Clearly, the budget deficit and national deficit are still climbing rapidly, but those are effected by many things other than revenues.

And that's why I said "I would think" instead of citing facts.

If you have evidence tax revenues are increasing, I'd sure like to see it.

RE: Gallup poll on GOP tax cut
The tax cuts have already shown initial signs of success.

They weren't exactly what I was hoping for but they are targeted and pro-growth.

The politicizing of them is stupid in my opinion. They just weren't overly political to any individual with a modicum of understanding of how our tax structure works.

Define success.

And clearly my GOP rep has no clue how our tax structure works because he keeps spewing nonsense like "Tax Day 2018 is now behind us, and with it, the last time taxpayers will ever have to file under the old and broken tax code."

I agree with your statement that it is too early, but feb 2018 (the most recent number available) is 156byn Jan was 361byn Dec was 326

for 2017 the numbers were 172, 344 and 319
for 2016 the same months were 169, 314, and 350
for 2015 - 139, 307 and 335
just for fun
for 2012 103, 234 and 240
and again, for fun 2008 105, 255 and 276
and 2007 120, 260 and 260

Seems like we collected more in 2007 and 8 than 2012... and while only marginally, more in 2018 than 2017.

I'll agree that it's too early to tell and there are dozens of factors that come into play, but thus far it's been at worst a wash.

and before anyone starts, I looked at GDP as well... and the numbers DO seem to show an increase in GDP in from 2012 to 2015 and then each subsequent year consistent with steady tax rates and then a rate cut.... but what they DON'T show is that from 07-09 were basically flat in terms of GDP, why 2012 was more than a trillion dollars higher, but revenues were lower then than in 07-09.

So we collected 'less' under Obama as the economy (finally) grew in 2012 and the left didn't care...
and now we're collecting more (by 200byn over just 3 months) in 2017 and 18 and the same in 18 as 17 and the left complains?

And I will challenge the giant giveaway to the donor class. Barbara Streisand and Nancy Pelosi were pissed at how much more in taxes they were going to have to pay.

Poll is worthless. Not a single taxpayer has filed a return under the new tax law. Secondly---50% of all Americans pay NO federal income taxes. So, yeah---why on earth would the percentage of people who think taxes are too high ever be over 50%?

Won't we not know if revenues increase until we see people and businesses submit their 2018 returns? The ones turned in the last few months are under the old code.

Yup. What a joke this poll and the “hot take” on it is.

Were the cuts only for people who voted R? Uhhhh, no.

But! They are only for THOSE THAT PAY FEDERAL TAXES! Likely not those that were home on the couch watching Jerry springer and eating Cheetos that were available to answer a dumb poll many didn’t even know what affect it’s had on them, if any.

It’s sad, but dumb people be dumb. By definition, about half the population.

Oh, and let’s be clear. While shrinking and shriveling noticeably, there actually IS a “donor class” on the left too.
Any of them that don’t want the tax cut, Mach included, can certainly send in whatever check they’d like. Don’t just whine and moan about it, put the money where the mouth is.

God forbid those that actually make the money keep a little more of what they’ve earned.

Did you see the latest new on him? 538 is apparently being sold for pennies on the dollar. They lose $6 million per year on revenues of just $3 million!

SAD!
