It is all good news...

Kind of like seeing a 7 foot kid who can fast and jump high but we aint seen a basketball in his hands. Tons of potential .

The sky is the limit for this crew.

A national championship would be good.

I'm interested to see what happens when we lose a couple in a row next year. Hope most of you will be patient. Those thinking we're going to be significantly better than last year may be in for a very rude awakening.

Penny has much more cushion than the Tub would ever have for numerous reasons. Mainly because the Tub was lazy as heck and didn't even try his first season.

Fair enough. But, what if (hypothetically) Penny gets totally outcoached in several games in year #1 and we go about .500.

How long before things get ugly?

The 2019 class is huge. IMO we need to have a decent showing in the 2018-2019 season to keep the momentum going. Part of it is up to the fans, city and media to keep the energy level high no matter what happens this year. It’s the buzz that makes Tiger basketball attractive. Just keep it rollin’.

If there’s a LOI 2019 Top 10 class coming in the next year, things still will be fine. There hope because of that. Consider it like Josh first few years but on a higher level. Fans still packed the Forum back then and there was hope for his incoming class. It was only when good players started to leave the program along with not winning the big games that things got onerous

oruvoice....

Memphis fired Tubby and hired Anfernee 'Penny' Hardaway

your comments really crack me up, because I don't think you're a fan of Penny, or basketball

Have you reached out to Triple A? He has a board that you would be suited to for sure

Triple A has started his own board? I know he quit posting here, but I thought he was active in the conference forums.

I believe penny will hold his own in coaching in the aac. I'm interested in how he will identify problems and make the necessary halftime adjustments. If he gets those right when we are in a hole from the first half then we can roll through our conference.

I believe that when Memphis does finally win one the second will come much sooner than later. I am shocked to see so many people across the country rooting for Memphis and saying they too are now Tiger fans.

The whole Penny hometown hero angle is a cool story nation-wide. Plus with him still having a current brand, a huge following and now NBA style feel with Mike and most likely Sam on the staff....well that’s going to generate buzz everywhere

I agree!

The potential is certainly there, based on our talent level. And “talent is the curse of expectation “, according to Stephen king.

I apologize if raising an honest question has upset you.

I am a big fan of Tiger basketball, but yeah...Tiger football was my first love.

Penny is ok. I like him just fine. I simply have major doubts about him being a D-1 coach. That's all.
