It says here that our tuition will increase 4%. That would generate $5,520,000 more a year for our university. I understand there will be massive budget cuts for in state schools totaling $80 million dollars. Will this increase in tuition increase our spending money or is it just making up for the budget decreases? Someone who knows whats going please weigh in. Thanks.[/u]

I’d imagine the tuition increase is simple a bone the state universities are being thrown due to the budget cuts.

I don't have access to the budget, but knowing how much has been cut from USM's budget over the past five years, this increase is likely only going to make up deficits in certain areas. It won't be spending money. We don't have any of that. If USM gets two nickels to rub together, somebody comes and takes away one of them.
