Seriously though, that missed call, a field goal against Cincy, 2 points @navy, 6 points to USF. Could've easily won 7-9 games and been the sexy underdog pick to win the west.

What-Ifs sadly are the defining characteristic of Tulane football.

Tulane is close and Fritz has done well. Tulane will always have depth problems just because of the type players they are allowed to go after but they are a decent team these days and i'll be shocked if they dont get to a bowl this season (injuries notwithstanding)

Breakthrough football season at Tulane? It is much more likely that someone at Tulane finds a breakthrough cure for cancer.

Just be happy USM doesn't play them this year.

This for sure. Fritz is such an underrated coach.

I'll probably go to the game at UAB this year.

Tulane fans, anyone wanna hook me up with some swag?

Don't think I'll be able to make that one. Head to either Gotula.net or YOGWF.com and I'm sure someone would get you a shirt.

Honestly if you just tweet FearTheWave blog or the athletic department I'm sure they'll hook you up. Marketing department has vastly improved under Dannen.

I hear ya and I agree. However, this is Tulane and we really don't bring in JC's, we build from the ground up. We have to fight the media, admissions, our own administration and run into $$$ issues. I'll say this though, when we do get the right President we do win, the proof is in the pudding. We are in a talent rich state and a football state. The stars have aligned and we do have the right President and an AD who is learning, but gets it. We've been allowed to spend $$$ and have a coach that knows how to build, how to win, has an unorthodox offense (which is what we need) and is respected (and just signed an extension). I do believe we will win and be consistent.

However, I'm thinking 6-6 and we will be a tough out. We have Wake Forest at home, Ohio State, USF, Houston and Cinn on the road. We'll have to pick off at least 1 of them then beat Navy who always beats us in the last couple of minutes.

I really think we will be a tough out, let's hope we go bowling...we are no longer the Tulane of old and I think everyone in the conference is starting to notice that. We have been somewhat of a drain on the American, but since Fritz has been here we've been competitive and can no longer be taken lightly. I think next year will will eclipse the 7-8 win mark.

Seriously, when is this going to change? I love USM and love playing USM in every sport!!! Heck, my daughter is seriously considering USM for next year. Both programs (in every sport) would benefit from playing each other and the fans enjoy the rivalry (heck I know I do). We should get a letter/e-mail campaign started with the AD's and press. This is as ridiculous as LSU not playing Tulane the Ole Miss/Miss St not playing USM.....

I don't think the bolded is completely true.

2016, yes, trailing 14-13, Will Worth scored the go-ahead TD (and we got the 2pt conversion) with 2:57 left for the victory. Context: this was Worth's second start- he was the holder fourteen days earlier. Just like his first start against Connecticut he was shaky but came through with the 4th quarter heroics (sadly, stopped at shaky at AF the following week before everything clicked and he led Navy's rampage to West division trophy).

In 2017, Tulane led for about a minute late second quarter. Navy retook the lead 14-13 and then extended that lead to 23-13 in the third quarter. Tulane cut the lead to 23-21 with 12:56 to go but we held on - two fourth down stops on D and a fourth down conversion on O. Coach Niumat: "It was a hard fought win. We knew it would be. I always said playing those guys...everything is a grind."

2015 Tulane had it tied at 7 in the second quarter, but we led 10-7 at the half, got it to 31-7 before final margin was 31-14.

Edited to add: I included the Niumat quote because I agree that Tulane is a tough out, certainly for Navy. Willie Fritz is a great coach. This year Tulane might beat us. But the three Navy AAC wins weren't multiple last minute miracles.

I can't wait to see the city of NOLA support the hometown college team. With some success, Tulane can be a jewel I think.

Odds are high that both could occur in the future.

we are 4 years away. Not sure why mens hoops didnt play this year.
When tulane left our womens teams did the allowed pre season private scrimmage against each other, and have played the past 2 years at the beginning of the year.
