Could be the new league started by locals bham bullies football league. Four teams Southside saints, East side eagles, Westside wranglers, and northsiide northern people. Ages 18-35 I wouldn't waste my time watching Larry get off from AutoZone to throw the pigskin around for the saints.

Four team league - sounds like the Arena Football League this year.

The funny thing is that they will still have a four team playoff, so if you finish dead last in the league, you can still win the championship! 03-lmfao

Yep, I doubt they play somewhere decent. I think local parks will be their football homes. Westside wranglers, Northside predators (lol), Southside saints, and Eastside cowboys

Now, who knows how that would play into Alabama still playing home games in Birmingham and the formation of UAB football.

Coach Bryant was certainly opposed to anything that might threaten the dominance of Bama football in the B'ham / Jeffco area, but don't get carried away with his influence. Now his influence was seen in the expansions of Legion Field during the 60s and 70s including the new north and south endzone stands, the upper deck, the new pressbox with suites and club level seating and the "gold seats" under it. Just as UAB today sees it helpful to it to have the BJCC build a new stadium for the use of its program, Bryant was happy to let B'ham pick up the tab for all that new seating at Legion Field. More seats meant more ticket sales.

After Bryant, Bama's new AD Steve Sloan started the TIDE PRIDE premium ticket program. Because (of the SC contracts) this premium could not be charged for over 5,000 prime location seats at Legion Field, every "home" game Bama played there cost the program millions of $$$ so they turned to expanding their own stadium in Tuscaloosa. They moved the big games out first and then one or two of the OOC games later. This move was "all about the Benjamins" and had nothing to do with Coach Bryant. It is at least possible that this issue of premium collection had a lot to do with NFL teams not looking at B'ham seriously as well.

Yeah, I know. Those seats are the real reason why the Israelis and the Palestinians can't get along.

No, that problem is because the new arrivals after 1948 forced the natives onto "reservations" called the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The new arrivals to America after 1620 did much the same thing to the native population during the following centuries until they ran out of undesirable land to which to move them. Perhaps after 300 years they too will allow the natives to become citizens like America did in 1924.

The Blazertalk equivalent of saying beetlejuice three times. Only here it is saying Bear Bryant or Bama football three times and bamablazerfan appears.

I enumerated things I believe were due to the influence of Paul Bryant, and they were considerable. To blame him for all of B'ham's sports miseries is not realistic nor fair. EX: I don't believe any NFL owner would have come to Legion Field with the inability to sell over 5,000 prime seats (1/5 of all sideline seats) as advance season tickets - especially without being able to charge a premium. The city had "made a deal with the Devil" to get funding, and it later came back to bite them on their butts. The inability of B'ham to replace Legion Field has had more to do with local metro and state politics than anything Bryant did in the 70s and after his death in Jan. 1983.
