This should bring safetyeagle out of hiding :D

In a hard fought defensive game, the Coogs win as the offense wakes up in the 4th quarter.

Houston 24
USM 17

It's my fault I though we might win ....

I got confident, I got optomistic, I saw victory ...

I felt like the kid in the movie Major Payne, when he was about to steal the trophy from the good military school. Its like I can see the trophy, and I can open the case and almost feel it, but as soon as get ready to put my hands on it, a bunch of guy kick my arse...

I have to give it up for USM!!!

We pushed you guys to the limits and you came through. I have nothing but respect for you guys.

Now the C-USA refs, that is another story :bang:

That game HURT. :frown: The boys put out one hell of an effort, but... *sigh*. And yes, Southern Miss got tough when they needed to -- props to the Eagles.

I liked how it looked like we weren't playing for overtime (despite the recommendations of the announcers, who were morons!) But dammit, those penalties (among other things) really bit us in the arse.

It's a dumb cliche, but this team really is better than the record indicates. (However, I still say Briles must've let Coach Noble set up the schedule this year, because it's insane.)

One more thing -- I was poking around Coogfans today, and it was all I could do to not say "yeah, I know how y'all feel... try being a Rice fan sometime". I swear, the Owls could put a patent on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. But somehow, I didn't think the sentiment would be appreciated. 03-wink

Anyway, it's time to stomp some Froggies. Here's to Houston schools going 2-0 against DFW teams in the upcoming games, eh? 04-cheers

[EDIT: typo; dumb schedule mistake]

I have cut down on my Coogfans time. They are so negative over there and they blowup over every little thing. Right now I have trimmed my list of webpages that I visit down to 2 or 3.

Where have you been hiding at Laura? I have missed you1!! :frown:

Aw, it wasn't you, of course. I got steamed at the latest Pile-On-Rice episode (we'd just beat Hawai'i and were 2-0, and yet people start ranking on us? Um, yeah) and needed some time away from that garbage.

Actually, it was prettyricky's post on the Owl board that cheered me up, when he said it was getting on his nerves too. So thank/blame him for my return.

And yes, there sure are a lot of negative nabobs on Coogfans. Whew!
