old fake news

In an interview with the New York Times on Sunday, Corker unloaded on Trump, accusing the businessman and former television star of treating the presidency like “a reality show” and warning that his saber-rattling on Twitter could put the country “on the path to World War III.”

It's an almost a complete repudiation of the Democrat myth that Trump's "crazy rocket man" talk would start World War 3.

Why is it dumb for the US to believe, even demand, it should be an integral part of any peace negotiation between the two countries?

Topic is Trump saying they have his blessing. They don't need it. Nor did they ask for it.

I'm amazed that were at a point where the Korean War's end is being discusses and the TDS brigade is more concerned with Trump's clumsy choice of words.

Not me, it's completely in character for them. Remember how they hated Comey before they loved him?

Standard operating procedure. The man could cure cancer and they'd complain he put thousands of researchers out of a job, etc.

We agree his words were dumb. Not seeing the problem. ?

I said clumsy, not dumb... I asked for my FIL's blessing to marry my wife, I did not ask for his permission. Had he said no, I almost certainly still would have married my wife.

It all comes back to the fact that Trump is a *terrible* speaker off the cuff. His "style", if you could call it that, makes me cringe nearly every time he talks. But FFS as great a speaker as Teleprompter enabled Obama was, I hated nearly everything the man did in office.

I'll take a clumsy speaker who played tough with Korea six months ago, sent the CIA director there last week, and "blesses" peace negotiations between the countries.

My point is... That in a thread about the Korean war potentially ending... Your *FIRST* expressed thought was...

Quote:Two nations at war need our, Trumps, blessing to discuss peace between THEM?

Not... "Oh I hope this goes well, this could be big"... Or even "Well I don't trust X, but hopefully I'm wrong".

You're first instinct was to find an angle to attack trump. Whether or not that was reflexive or intentional, it's very telling.

Kim: We want peace, but can only have it if the US withdraws all their forces from Korea.

Moon: That's a thought.........or, how about they only move down to Pusan?

Kim: Um......we're just not comfortable with them being on the peninsula at all. Also, it would be nice if the ROK disbanded their military too, good faith and all.

Moon: That's a thought too.........or, how about you do the same.......first?

Kim: Well...........that's a thought, but with the US gone and the ROK demilitarized, who would defend Korean if not the DRK?

They said the same thing about Reagan and the cold war was won without a single shot fired.

Hum.

No need in trying to get any telling from my posts. I don't like the man. Haven't for 30 some years. Pretty sure that's quite obvious to even an infrequent visitor here.

My second post would explain why I didn't jump up and do a celebratory dance in my first. Someone's hopes leapt from the news, ok. Ho hum for me. Sorry. My reaction. Would seem to be a pretty understandable one to anyone living on this planet.

Do I shrug when I hear talk of peace for the umpteenth time in my life? Yep. I celebrated the Berlin wall coming down. When it came down. I didn't in '79. I'll save my enthusiasm 'till an appropriate time. And when it involves N Korea? An appropriate time and then some.

You've read me for years. I disappointed you not stating an obvious?

Peace between the K's would be fantastic.

There.

His arrogant ass said something stupid. Or clumsily stupid. I can walk and chew gum at the same time. Wanting to see peace, remaining a realist, and criticize an ass? Walk, chew and snap my fingers. Easy peasy.

And to be fair, you managed to bring an attack on a Chicago community organizer into a thread about a potential end to the Korean war. Guess you get cut a little slack 'cause it wasn't your first expressed thought.

Save the TDS bs. I expect it from the orange ball worshiping apologists, spinners, deniers and outright liars around here. You know, the actual sufferers of TDS along with the leftist's swearing he's guilty of crimes not in evidence. I'm in neither camp of deranged loons. It's a head scratcher you think I am. 03-wink

Carry a big stick?

C'mon, you think this would EVER happen without strong outside influence?

Damn, love him or hate him, I don't really care. But if he and his admin, coupled with Fatboy pull this off?

Dust off the history books, what? 65 years?

Gonna need someone to snatch and steal zerO's nobel and be ready to hand it over to either Trump or uno, don't really care which.

I'd think they each get one, these well deserved. This would be a MASSIVE game changer. Yuuuuuge!

Don't disagree.

I just commented on a quote from Trump on the topic in the op. Bull asked for more, I replied already. Not putting on my cheer uniform yet. Bet I'm of the majority view.

Reading back through the thread, I only count a handful of posters who seem to have any real hope the thread title may come about. Mostly they just defended Trumps dumb quote. Trump already started hinting yesterday that our talks might not happen with them. Just speculating but may be he didn't hear what he was hoping for after Pompeo returned.

I don't begrudge anybody being hopeful. Just seems premature.

We are talking about N Korea.

Edit for the bold before others, not you, spin this into something it isn't. Just an observation. Not a criticism. If advance talks aren't promising, he's right to cancel.
