In regards to the soccer stadium, do we have any fans on here? Just curious if it seems like the team is headed in a better direction. Seems like UAB hosting the USL team would translate into a more competitive program.

We could have a mediocre on-campus football stadium and no money for anything else, or we can have nice facilities for all our sports on campus AND one of the nicest stadiums in college football that we don't have to pay for on our own.
It's a heck of a compromise if you ask me.

I would agree that it is certainly good for soccer.
I was just not overly pleased with the emphasis of on campus "soccer only" stadium.

& in regards to the USL it can do nothing but help the soccer program at UAB.

It allows us to expand the stadium and have the chance to draw in bigger crowds.

The women's team is heading in the right direction. The men need to take it up a few notches.

The emphasis was on how nice it will be compared to other “soccer-only” stadiums. There are probably other nicer stadiums where college soccer teams play soccer but they aren’t soccer-only.

I'm a soccer fan. Keep in mind that there are some here who will find fault with anything the AD says, no matter how positive it is. There also seems to be a resentment of any sport that receives improvements in facilities between the years of 2015 and 2017.

The soccer community has really moved toward soccer specific stadiums and fields. It is a big thing in recruiting.. Very few Teams will have an atmosphere and stadium comparable to what UAB will be able to produce.

Do a lot of college teams play on the football field?
I know our high school games here are played on the football field which has a crown.

I imagine prospects certainly would like their own field to play on.

I'd imagine at this point most don't share a field with football in college. I know a lot of high schools play at football stadiums, but I also know several have their own soccer specific fields.

The new Track and Field facility will prove to be quite beneficial.
