I didn't mean it like that. Meant as a honor thing.

What is the point in doing that?

I've heard other schools in the past basketball and football who's had a kid on scholly that gets sick and has to quit. The coaches would leave it open as a tribute to the kid. I'm too lazy right now to do the research right now but it's happened.

Thats fine but I don't see that happening here. Of course I could be wrong.

No disrespect to players who've taken ill and had to leave programs, but leaving a scholly open as a tribute seems...dare I say it...excessive?

Yeah, you can't do that in college hoops today. And Penny definitely can't do that with his rebuild and trying to win now. Some guys won't make the adjustment. Guys will get hurt. And guys will transfer out. You can't leave a scholly open just because you want to be nice.

Fred or Lamont?

Since it's not Son, I'm going with Fred.

It's happened. I don't think it's excessive to hold a scholarship for 1 year to show class to a player and his family. I'm not saying penny will but it's happened. Hell ESPN ran a story on that Michigan kid right before a Michigan game in the tournament.

Football maybe...

Basketball you don't unless you don't need it that year. Same as giving Jaden a scholly this year.
