One little blurb I found said he wasn't a starter for Aspire Academy. Often listed as 6-8 or 6-9, a photo of him next to Coach K (who is 6-2) makes him look about 6-6. In a video of the Aspire seniors standing together, Smith is standing next to a kid who is listed on the roster as 6-8, but Smith is about 3 inches shorter. Obviously height isn't everything, but it's still interesting. If he can shoot from the outside and get some rebounds, I'll be happy.
Replying to my own post. Found this interview with TJ Smith from about three years ago. A little tough to keep track of him since he's been at Marian (IL) Catholic, Wesley (KY) Christian and Aspire (KY) Academy. P.S. Not sure the video works?^#@!**

Class of 2018 small forward TJ Smith is a prospect that is originally from Illinois that played at Marian Catholic early in his career. He has bounced around prep schools the last couple years and now is at Aspire Academy in Kentucky. Smith is a 6’7” small forward with good size and length. Quality athlete that plays well in the transition game. Solid rebounding wing with offensive potential. Low-major prospect.
He ran with the Illinois Wolves on the UAA circuit this past summer.
“It went well. As a team from the spring to the summer it was a big improvement. We won a lot of tournaments. We bought in as a team. Individually I felt I improved. I felt I improved my motor. My jump shot improved and strength.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“Right now I have Toledo and Miami (OH). Those are the two that are recruiting me the hardest right now. I have some interest from Butler, Dayton, and VCU. I just took an official to Toledo. That was my first one. I plan to take to take an official or unofficial to Miami (OH) soon.”
Smith broke down the two schools toward the front of his recruitment at this stage.
Toledo
“Great coaching staff. I have a great relationship with their head coach. The whole coaching staff is great.”
Miami (OH)
“At Miami (OH) the campus is real nice and coaching staff is nice as well.”
