It's gonna be hard for us to fend of p5 schools for these type of players. He may just want to take all of his visits then recommit. Hopeful but doubt it.

Yup. It takes a special situation for a kid like that to pass on the “bigger” offers. I think the Memphis program has taken strides to close the gap between some of the other programs etc but when schools like UGA and FSU get involved it’s hard to top that.

We will be fine. Norvell has proven he can do a great job with lesser talent. One 4* will not affect the momentum he's taking the program.

Kid just wants to take his visits. I’m not worried. Having played D1, the visits are an absolute blast!!

I think he wants to see all his options. The reasons he committed to the UofM still exist. Personally, I think we eventually signs with us as he was very positive on being local and recruiting other local players. My opinion only.

Would've been nice to have kept him to establish something with Whitehaven. Doesn't appear as if "coaches" there are very high on the hometown team...from social media anyway. I put it in quotes b/c I'm not familiar enough with the program to know who is on staff and who isn't. Just going off what I have seen on twitter/insta over the past couple of years and what people refer to themselves as or how others address them.

this seems like it's 10x worse in football vs. basketball recruiting

It's definitely more common, but so is coaches continuing to recruit the same position after verbal commitments. It goes both ways. The mama bear in me feels being recruited over is worse.

No coach at Whitehaven has a problem with Memphis. For the most part the entire staff are Memphis Fans.

Yeah, his radio interview right after the "commit" was very non-committal. Had a bad feeling at that moment.

Yea because we have lots of five and four star guys we can just pick up instead. Losing talent of this level hurts schools like Memphis. I'm believing in MN to build the program but don't think it's nothing. Talent is the end all be all in sports.

I think you just may be right.

He'll play a lot of snaps here as a Freshman that he won't get at those other schools.

Playing time should be & will be pointed out.
