little known fact

they all had the same barber

I actually feel bad for Dr. Raines in that photo. She looks like something from Star Trek.

I was thinking along those lines too.

The one speaking and hugging himself looks scared AF.

The one in the middle looks like she is shell shocked.

The one on the end wants to slap RC upside the head.

Maybe we can help Bowen? Win win for all parties?

sigh...Would not be a win for Memphis. Best AD in my lifetime.

Just curious how you define best? Not being a smart ass at all.

Successfully led the transition of our football program to a place MANY said it could never get.
Led us to the verge of Power inclusion. Didn't get us there, but closer now than we've been in the modern era.
Led a capital expansion program that has developed the best facilities for ALL SPORTS that we've ever had, with more to come.
Cleaned up a financial mess of shotty recordkeeping, unpaid bills, and bad agreements.
Partially cleaned up a department that was uninspired and complacent.
No major violations or controversies, and with improved academics.
Sealed improved relations with Martin, Laurie, and FedEx.
Football...worth repeating.

I know, basketball is down. Comes from two bad hires in a row. One was not on his watch, the other was. It's a negative. It happens. Also, made moves to get us out of both situations - whether you credit or blame him.

I also know he didn't do all this on his own. He also doesn't do all the stuff he gets blamed for here, on his own. But I've been through Cavagnaro and RC. Bowen is the best we've seen. Are there better AD's out there? Absolutely. Do they want to come to Memphis in the AAC? Not sure.

He wants to make the jump to the P5 - elsewhere if it comes to it. I see it just like every football coach we will hire, and most basketball coaches. Just leave the place better than what you inherited, and I'm fine with that from my AD.

I also think that Bowen is best AD we've had. I know he was on short list at Cal, but they ultimately selected Jim Knowlton from Air Force who had learned his leadership style from the military. One problem Bowen is having finding a better gig is his age. Bowen turns 57 in about 6 weeks. According to the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Report the average age of Division I athletic directors at the time of their hire to their current position was 45.3 years old. The demands of these jobs can be stressful. I'm not surprised to see a trend towards younger hires.

It was probably a result of the anal probe.

Thanks for the ago info, makes sense. I'm hoping he stays long enough for Wren Baker to season a bit more at N.TX. The stress levels between the two jobs are on different planes, but he's doing a good job there out of the gate.
