For the record, I want Larry Brown. And frankly I’d love for Penny to go over Bowen’s head. But as we stand here today it doesn’t look promising that Penny will get his guy. So that being said several former coaches would or could do a quality job in helping Penny. Most people view Kevin S. as a very good X and O guy.

Post something better next time.

What is baffling is that Penny has all the leverage in this situation and decided not to use it. He could have had Brown if he wanted to use it.

It's only baffling if you made up your mind with insufficient information.

Maybe he doesn’t want to ruffle any feathers his first couple of weeks at a new job.

Penny should be able to ruffle all the feathers as much as other coaches do.

If Penny chose to move on then I take that as he wasn't 100% on Larry Brown.

If he were, I think he would fight it.

Maybe he already did and feel it is more important to coach the team than it is to have the same opportunities that other coaches do.

Essentially, he is agreeing to be chained to help unchain some kids that he feels he can help.

This is a sad development on the part of the Memphis administration and the big money guys.

Maybe he didn't want Larry Brown in the first place even though he stated he did in the first place.
