It's got to be up around 90 by now.

New pitcher for MTSU, Jr RHP Holcombe (15 app, 3-2, 24.1 IP, 4.81 ERA, .274 BAA, 6 BBs, 24 Ks)...
Sarchet lined out to CF.
Gneiting singled up the middle. One out.
Cox grounded into double play. I think Dom is going to a good one for us, but he is hopeless overmatched at the plate this year. As close to an automatic out as you can get.

Still tied 2-2- heading to the bottom of the seventh inning.

And that's it for Canterino. Dane Acker in to start the bottom of the seventh. Must. Throw. Strikes.

Matt's final line: 6.0 IP, 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 BB, 11 Ks

Arggghhhhhhhhh. Leadoff walk. 03-banghead 03-hissyfit 01-lauramac2

Dane really struggling with the strike zone. Stuck out the 2nd batter, but fell behind 3-1 on the next before he flied out...then wild pitch the runner into scoring position and went 3-2 on next batter before getting another strikeoutKK. Living VERY dangerously, and this was the bottom of the MTSU order.

Who is the Rice closer these days? Is it still Gayle or would you say it's Jackson P? In any case, let's try taking a lead and see who we can go to close it out (hopefully).

Step 1 - take lead (check) - Comeaux double gives Rice a 3-2 lead.

The sure out doubles in 2 more. 7-2 now. Good time for Cox to pick up his first collegiate extra base hit.

Proctor leadoff infield single after falling behind 1-2. Finally, a leadoff baserunner.
Chandler successfully sac bunted Ford to 2B. One out.
Comeaux RBI double! 02-13-banana Runner on 2B, one out.
Cruz reached on E-5, Braden scored on errant throw 02-13-banana and Trei advanced to 2B. Still only one out.
Collins singled. Runners on 1B and 3B, one out.
Dunlap walked on four pitches to load the bases. One out.
New pitcher for MTSU, Jr LHP Connor Bell (11 app, 2-0, 10.1 IP, 3.48 ERA, .238 BAA, 5 BBs, 6 Ks)-- a situational lefty...
Sarchet hit his second deep sac fly of the day. 02-13-banana Deep enough for both runners to advance into scoring position. Two outs.
Gneiting intentionally walked (no surprise there) to reload the bases. Two outs.
Cox defies the strategy and hits a clutch, two-out, 2-RBi double into the gap! 02-13-banana 02-13-banana Dom's first extrabase hit of his career! Runners on 2B and 3B, two outs.
Proctor flied out to CF.
Way to go for the kill, Owls. Now, let's hold on.

Good guys lead 7-2 heading to the bottom of the eighth inning.

I'm heading off to dinner. Hopefully, someone can bring this one home. Go Owls!

"Wow!"

"That's three outstanding plays by the (Rice) shortstop in this 8th inning. And the Raiders go down in order."

Acker still in which brings up a classic Dane Acker vs Aaron Aucker match-up to lead off the bottom of the 9th. Acker gets the best of Aucker. 1 out.

Nice job by Acker to close out the 7-2 win. Rice with 5 straight wins in conference play now after that dreadful 1-7 start. For now, we're in 6th place in the conference standings.

I assume 30 minutes from now is game 2 (and it's scheduled for just 7 innings, which seems odd to me - seems like the 7-inning games are usually the 1st game of a DH).
