Comcast says it’s dropping Big Ten Network in non-Big Ten markets
https://www.landof10.com/big-ten/big-ten...el-dropped

Another article says that Comcast will drop the network entirely by May.

This article claims that only out-of-market regions will be without BTN on May 10 but in-market regions may continue to offer BTN.

Quote:At the just concluded Big Ten Media Days in Chicago, Fox Sports President Mark Silverman blasted Comcast, warning that a deal will mean that Comcast subscribers will not only not get BTN programing, but the Fox Sports 1 Network as well.

“I’m feeling with a little over five weeks left before football season, we should be much further along than we are. It’s extremely concerning. I’ve gone through this with them 10 years ago. And I can’t predict what their motivations are.” - Mark Silverman

The network has started a campaign to get fans involved through social media.

Quote:Big Ten Network today is ratcheting up the pressure in its carriage dispute with Comcast, rolling out a 30-second spot that features 12 of the 14 conference football coaches. The coaches alert viewers to the possibility that Comcast’s Xfinity service may not carry Big Ten football games this season on either BTN or FS1. BTN’s deal with Comcast ends Aug. 31, as does a surcharge Comcast paid for Big Ten games on FS1 last season. Comcast earlier this year dropped BTN in non-Big Ten markets, a move that angered conference and network execs. The network said no progress has been made since Fox Sports National Networks President Mark Silverman went public with the dispute at Big Ten Media Day two weeks ago.

Quote:Comcast reaches a deal with Big Ten Network.

Quote:Deal terms place BTN on Xfinity's expanded basic tier in states with a Big Ten school (including DC, northern Virginia and Delaware). BTN will be on the Sports and Entertainment tier everywhere else "in the coming months."

Quote:It’s Friday. Football season is six days away. More good news: BTN and Comcast have reached a deal.

Not really"dropping" BTN - just moved to sports tier outside B1G states.
A reasonable compromise, IMO - either that or reduce the out of state rate.
