Knapke can’t post up?

No. He's better away from the basket. He gets pushed around inside, and can't get the ball low and post up bigger defenders. He's also a step behind and fouls too much.

Boothe was a lot better facing the basket too. Not convinced a Dick Miller or Steve Taylor is the answer. Fletcher was a lot harder to defend than Taylor. And our defense sucks anyway, even with a guy like Taylor. Think Stretch 4's and tall wings are better than an offensive lineman.

He may be better outside but he’s got a nice hook with either hand and there aren’t THAT many bigger defenders, certainly not in the MAC. He’s backed down plenty of guys and it’s not like he’s getting weaker.

I say we we pull a "Phil Alexander" and pilfer this guy from Candle and after the football season use him as an enforcer in the post for the end of the hoops season and into the MAC tourney.

Phil was almost square. Don’t recall him seeing the floor much but he was a load.

RE: New BB Recruit
Taylor had a nice post up game, but that's where it ended. He became a black hole due to either he didn't want to pass it back out to the perimeter, or couldn't, due to being double/triple teamed. It only got worse from there, just foul him, couldn't make foul shots. Scouting exploited that, as expected.

But a guy with some meat who can back a defender to the bucket for 15 a game is pretty sweet when the 3s don't fall.

That will still be the culprit.

To put the Debbie Downer hat down, it seems the recent moves are good ones.

I hope the ESPN3 thing ain't dicked up.

RE: New BB Recruit
Well, this may be the most excited I've ever been for a new rocket recruit. one, cuz he's got NBA potential, great offensive feel for a 6-10 guy, and apparently a solid family, academic and personal foundation, but... more so cuz I got a lot of Filipino family, my wife was a founder of the UT Filipino-American association, and having the Philippines top national prospect playing ball for the Rockets is gonna make it far easier to get fam to watch the rockets games with me.

Edu is a brilliant recruit. The hardest player for a mid major to recruit is the true big man. Yeah, Edu is still thin, has played mostly against what looks like US high school JV competition, and is unlikely to be an immediate star, but his game is well rounded, his future is bright and if he was 220 lbs or had played against more high profile competition he would be at Kentucky or Gonzaga.

Go Rockets! Do it for the bayan.
