RE: baseball at FIU
Stat comparisons:
http://www.southernmiss.com/sports/m-bas...mcume.html
https://www.fiusports.com/cumestats.aspx...year=2018&

Records:
USM 22-10, 8-3 (CUSA), 4-4 on the road
FIU 16-17, 6-6, 11-9 at home

Batting:
Avg: .287 to .288
Runs: 265 (8.3 per game) to 206 (6.2 per game)
HR: 36 to 43
SB: 27/34 to 13/36
Sac bunts: 12 to 13
K/BB/HBP: 283/181/41 to 251/99/54

Pitching:
ERA: 3.87 to 4.54
Runs: 147 (4.6 per game) to 198 (6 per game)
HR: 16 to 20
SB: 30/40 to 48/59
Errors: 40 to 50
K/BB/HBP: 295/97/29 to 310/148/39

Several things that jump out are: FIU has 4 players with 7+ HR (1 with 7, 3 with 8), they don't steal a lot of bases (but have been thrown out quite a bit attempting), they've allowed a lot of stolen bases, our batters have walked almost double what theirs have and their pitchers have walked about 50% more than ours have.

RE: baseball at FIU
Hoping for a better outcome than our last trip down there.

I did that retrospective on the 2016 team a few weeks ago, but man did they really blow it that week. Had a conference title and a hosting bid in front of them and just straight up TTTed. It wasn't a devastating collapse that stays with you forever (6-6-17, 2011 UAB football game), but it has to be a top 10 TTT collapse in the past 10-15 years.

Need a better performance from Powers for sure. He got shelled last weekend.

Without Sandlin, I feel that this weekend is up for grabs.

Exactly. Against teams like this usually winning 2/3 is a letdown but considering the situation (and to clarify the situation is "no sandlin along with our craptastic bullpen this year") I feel like 2/3 will be a productive weekend but wouldn't be shocked if we TTT'd and go 0-fer

Fun fact. Last time we went down there, we were in line to be a Regional host, and they were resting their players for the conference tourney. We got smacked around for three games by their backups and mop-up duty pitchers

All bets are off if Sandlin isn't pitching. Powell has looked good, but it's still a small sample size.

Team just hasn't played good baseball and we are on the road against a lefty today. We shall see

RE: baseball at FIU
The guy we’re facing tonight was a 9th round pick last year. One of the few top guys in their class that FIU was able to get to campus. Got hammered by Missouri in his first start but has done pretty well since then.

What’s he saying? And does that Pelican guy still do their PxP?

In the 2016 series, I remember him bitching about lack of coverage from the Miami Herald. On the air. Was a classic #ThisIsCUSA moment.
