A lot of things can change in two years.

True, but LDS kids might be wired different. If they regularly flipped commitments after serving their 2 year missions, I think Mormon athletes would find it much harder to land scholarship offers. UVU just went through the same with former 4-star kid Wyatt Lowell, who has served his mission and should now be one of the impact freshmen in the WAC this year. That is unless he forgot how to play basketball over the last two years! Haha

He could decide to go some where else.
He could have a life altering experience on his mission.
Pope could no longer be HC.
Pope could yank his scholarship for someone else.

As I said, a lot of things can change in two years.

RE: WAC commits 2018-19
Freshman Junub Char Chuol and walk-on Tennessee Owens (a local kid) have been added to the Aggie roster. Owens will redshirt as he is transferring back home from DII Alabama-Huntsville. But it is likely Chuol along with big man Will McNair will also redshirt.

Also, 6'8 JC transfer Christian Jacobs and 6'4 South Dakota transfer DJ Davis have been added to the Chicago State roster; bringing the official number to nine players on the Cougar roster. Fall classes started August 20th at Chicago State. So, it will be interesting to see how Coach Irvin's 2018-19 roster shakes out at this late date.

Chicago State has now added 6'4 Junior guard Delshon Strickland (Odessa JC) and 6'10 Junior center Noah Bigirumwami (San Bernardino Valley College) to its roster. Neither had eye popping stats in JC ball but they are warm bodies for a new head coach trying to assemble a roster at this late date.

I saw Strickland's highlight tape on Twitter. Looks pretty athletic and suprised me at how good he looked. Didn't see his stats though

It appears Strickland had offers from some good programs coming out of high school... Auburn, Providence, Miami. But it appears grades might have been the issue. He apparently bounced between Indian Hills CC, Coffeyville CC, and Odessa JC. As a freshman at Coffeyville, he averaged 10.9 ppg; with some big scoring games early on. However, for some reason his production tapered off. He played his Sophomore season at Odessa in 2016-17 where he averaged 6.8 ppg. He is now a year removed from basketball and on the Chicago State 2018-19 roster. Strickland could turn out to be a real good player for Chicago State but he might come with baggage.

According to the VerbalCommits website, Cal State Bakersfield picked up a 2019 commitment from Ronne Readus; a 6'9 JUCO center from Fullerton College in the CCCAA. If not this coming season, the Roadrunners should be tough in 2019-20 with the additions of Readus and redshirt Junior De'Monte Buckingham; a 6'4 transfer guard from the University of Richmond.

RE: WAC commits 2018-19
Very solid pick up for Seattle U without using a scholarship once again, this is the third prospect coming to SU using his academic scholarship to play basketball as a walk on.

Terrell Brown, a local product from national powerhouse Garfield High School, will join the SU program as a junior with two years of eligibility.

Brown originally went to Western Oregon (D2) before transfering to local JUCO Shoreline Community College, where he averaged a whopping 30ppg/8rpg/4apg on 43% shooting.

He didn't have any official offers coming out of JUCO, but Hayford said they had to recruit against other programs to get him to SU.

A JUCO guy that averaged 30/8/4 in 25 games as a walk on is something I'll take any day. Zero risk, high reward.

Brown joins Ian Burke, who had an Air Force offer, Matt Vail, and Joe Wall as walk ons to the team this year. Brown and Burke appear to be clear mid major/high D2 talent.

Knowing a few guys who coached against him in the NWAC last year. They all said he was Shoreline's only option and for the team to win, Brown needed to put up 25-30 shots a game for them to win. That being said he would have been a great role player at a national juco and would have landed at a bigger school. He put up 647 shots last year in 25 games! Thats 25 attempts per game.

On the CBU twitter, it appears Coach Croy is landing Aussie players for 2019-2020...

There is not much info on either...

In reading the CSUB preview in another thread, it is obvious that they have a significant Australian pipeline. Good for them.

Based on the other threads, I assume you are talking about "CBU" not CSUB. Rick Croy is a disciple of Randy Bennett. So, I suspect Croy will use many of the same recruiting pipelines as Bennett... i.e. the Australian pipeline. In time, I see Cal Baptist developing into a program similar to Saint Mary's.

Yeah CBU has done a nice job of getting D1 transfers and using the Aussie pipeline like another school in the WAC had done when they entered the WAC.

RE: WAC commits 2018-19
According to the verbal commits website, Cal State Bakersfield added the 2019 commitment of Ray Somerville, a 6'9 235-lbs. frosh center from Pennsylvania.

After seeing CSUB take TCU down to the wire, the Roadrunners are going to be VERY tough in 2019-20... Along with Somerville, Barnes also adds Richmond transfer De'Monte Buckingham (6'4, 220-lbs, Jr.) who averaged 12.7 ppg & 7 rpg for the Spiders, and JC transfer Ronne Readus (6'9, 250-lbs, Jr.) to the 2019-20 roster.

Even better, UNM was in the hunt for Somerville and really wanted to get him. I'm so glad they lost out to CSUB. Warms my heart.
