North Texas is the leading G5 program at #33, followed by Western Michigan (#40) and Cincinnati (#46). Texas A&M is #18 -- but just 8th in the SEC. Texas and TCU both trail UNT at #34 and #42, respectively. Baylor is #57, SMU #63, UTSA #64, UH #84...

We’re by far the lowest in “average recruit” though (very low 3 star). We just have 10 commits which is a lot for a G5 at this point. Huge step up from the previous 10 years but we won’t hold in the top 75.

Yeah, these early rankings are influenced as much by volume of commits as they are by quality. When it's all said and done, being in the top 90 would still be punching above our weight given last season's results.

Jackson Tyner will be going to Texas Tech.

To do what I wonder? I guess play football, but certainly not QB? Could he still have baseball eligibility (I'd have to see if he played 4 years of baseball already). That's a legitimate question I think - I'm really not trying to be snide here.

OUCH! I was not a fan of him under center but congrats to TJ and his dad. They get the last laugh...BTW TE makes more sense. no way he beats out Duffy and I'm not sure he's the starter. Could give them depth but what a year he will have traveling to big time games.

It’s an honest assessment I have nothing against him. He hasn’t shown any signs that he would start at a P5 as QB or even be a backup. He might get a few snaps as part of a TE rotation if he’s willing to play there.

I think he could definitely play baseball if he worked at it all offseason.

I agree that he would be unlikely to get snaps at QB. Unless, of course, the TT coach sees something that the Rice staff missed. But that is why I suggested his year at TT might be spent at TE.
