Hopefully he's talking to Broussard to keep him moving towards a commitment

Both 247 and Rivals have Broussard crystal ball - Rice 100%.

First P5 offer he gets he’s going. He reluctantly said we’re his best offer so far. Seems to really like UCLA and UT. Not sure why he doesn’t have more offers, he was a 4 star until we offered then he dropped to a 3 star. Impressed a lot of people at the Adidas all star game as a DB recently and still no offers.

Yeah he seems like he wants to go anywhere but Rice but realizes Rice might be his best option.

Texas isn’t going to offer him (they had a great WR/ATH class)... Not sure about UCLA.

Shane Buechele supposedly is going to graduate and transfer from Texas (with a possible 2 years of eligibility). He's already been linked to possibly ending up at SMU (he's from Arlington) and the Mustangs lost their QB to Arkansas, but that's another one we should pursue. He was a good student both in high school and at UT, and his dad went to Stanford so possibly he knows Bloomgren?

Are we certain Hurts is transferring?

He is now. Looks like we lost out to Oklahoma. Bummer.

Real tough one, you know, choosing between these storied programs 05-stirthepot

Speaking of Alabama, it's an interesting situation there with the mass exodus of coaches.. including losing their OL coach to Georgia Tech (for the same position)

I saw an article that none of Saban's assistants from 2016 are left. And only one from 2017.

Saban is not the easiest guy to work for. When he left Michigan State for LSU, the entire Spartan staff elected to stay at MSU with Bobby Williams rather than go to LSU. So he hired a bunch of recruiters for his LSU staff and won a national championship game shortly afterwards.

When the LSU staff were first hired, they were living in the high-rise hotel along I-10/12 in Baton Rouge. My son and I spent a night there enroute home for the holidays, and when we came down for breakfast he and his staff were having a breakfast meeting at a big round table next to us. When we walked out to the car, my son said, "Dad, I think that's the meanest man I've ever seen." I think he was probably right.

It's no surprise that Saban and Belichick are friends. Both are relentless in the details and the pursuit to get there.

Can only imagine working for them is gruelling, but IMO, its lightyears ahead of sitting at home having lost months ago. But everyone isnt cut that way.

Belichick is a great guy to work for... He retains coaches, lets them have a life off the field, and is also a very nice guy when he’s not in the public eye.

Saban is an ******* to work for..

We offered 2019 DT De’Braylon Carroll from Duncanville.

Other FBS offers from Air Force and Navy but looks like he has the size to make an immediate impact if we get him.

Carroll just committed. I wouldn’t be opposed to taking another DT...

6’0 285. Looks like he was even more highly regarded on the Oline but I’ll take more kids from winning programs.

Agreed. We were already taking 1 before we lost 2 seniors to grad transfer. I’d say if we find anyone who fits on the DL we take them every year.

Worth noting that Carroll made one of the most “important” plays in TXHSFB this past season when he sacked in the end zone Allen’s QB to put them up 9 with two minutes to go in the state semis...

Of course, Duncanville famously lost in the final.

Lots of high praise. Clearly has the academics with offers from us and Navy. I’m guessing this was a “is he projectable” to CFB issue? I’ll take those players every day (see baker mayfield, Aaron Donald etc)

We have Twitter interest now for Justin Gooseberry, OL at Ouachita Baptist. What are the transfer rules out of D2?

Kid is a player, just short. Great to land him.
