As a 6-5, 220 lb 3-star, I would expect him to be in the mix for starting QB next year, given the inconsistency in QB performance we've seen thus far.

I might expect some of the posters here to be in the mix for starting QB if NCAA rules allowed given that inconsistency.

Guess he’d rather lose in the SEC than win inC-USA. As I mentioned in this thread a little while ago, we need to pick it up on the recruiting trail.

I’ve been in Vandy’s facilities and they are a step down from Patterson. Their stadium is also similarly decrepit to HRS and their attendance is only slightly better.

Yeah I don’t understand it at all. The only plus to playing at Vandy is he gets “better quality competition” but there are plenty of good WRs in CUSA. Not like that ever held anyone out of the league.

Education: equivalent (I think Vandy is worse but I can’t reasonably say it’s not on par)
Football: equivalent. Vandy will lose more games than us in the next 5 years but in a tougher league.
Facilities: equivalent.

At least I understand Stanford or Northwestern. We should be able to beat a Texas kid over Vandy and Duke.

I think you might have left something else out. Not sure how important this is to recruits, but I don't recall anything remotely close to (Nashville /Vandy women) at Rice. One can search for it themselves to verify their own opinions, but I do think it plays a factor greater than zero.

I know Texas has some pleasant scenery as well, but things can appear sparse to some folks at times down on the S. Main campus.

Just sayin' it's not always 100% about football. After all, these are 18-19-20 year old guys and they sometimes can have a bit more criteria of all that they're considering.

I was at Rice over 40 years ago and found the environment you referenced just fine. No complaints at all. And it has improved as best I can determine. The only problems I had were not being able to make a decision and not really having time to pursue the matter without flunking out. I figured there would always be girls around but I couldn't stand flunking out. Little did I know how disappointed I would be after leaving campus. There were still lots of nice girls around but mostly not too bright, looking only for a free place to live and raise kids.

I want to take a quick moment to sincerely address any and all current or hopeful Rice recruits who read this board... I want to encourage you to seriously consider Rice University. You can come in with a real chance at playing right away at the highest level, and also get an incredible education. We want you. We appreciate you. We are a small but hungry fan base.. We're passionate. We want championships! Consider Rice!

Not just 04-cheers but beers are on me, recruits. To the extent that we cover it up from the NCAA violation committee that is.... and the TABC...... and the local law enforcement...... and future Senate Judiciary Committee nomination panels.....

Now into the first week of October and only at 9 commits. Not promising.

Need to show something on the field this weekend as I bet we'll have lots of recruits there.

We’re showing interest to a lot of lower ranked guys I hadn’t seen before (2 star and unranked). Seems like we’re not going to pull many of the higher ranked guys we’ve offered.

Wonder if we’re still going after Broussard? He was much higher ranked before we offered him and seems like the under the radar type athlete we need.

Also some of the unranked guys could be preferred walkons with free tuition. Haven’t seen any offer tweets just recruiting “love”.

I’ve seen some 2020 guys getting attention from us too now. Maybe our staff needed a full year to sell our style.

Charlie McFarland alief taylor qb. WOW!! He throws the most accurate pretty effortless drop I've ever seen. Not super fast but he's elusive. He is a qb that needs to be on our radar. He's legit.

Like I said I know talent. The kid can play. If we aren't looking into him we should. Little known kid that had the skills to be very good for us.

Looking at his film, he looks better than either of our starting guards right now.

Let’s hope we at least look competitive this week in front of the recruits. While some would say that the last 3 games would show recruits that they have a chance to play immediately, I worry that we looked so bad that recruits would fear that there was little chance the program was worth taking a chance on.

Group of Offensive linemen all seem to know each other and are at least talking about their upcoming visit.

Jett Duncan
Cedric Melton
Braedon Nutter

“Tell you what that combo we talked about will be so sick”.

Spoke at length with Nutter’s dad who seemed unfazed by the debacle
on the field.

The Nutter Kid is a well-built 285 pounder who looks like a solid player -though I’ve not seen him play.
