Baseball field envy
If a D3 school can do it you would think we can too.

There might be some value in approaching donors/athletic alumni with specific interest in certain sports to make the master plan happen. I'm sure Frasier has thought of this, but I think its worth mentioning.

Yes. And it would also be a good idea to approach ALL donors individually regarding donating to the Master Plan. There is nothing like approaching people personally to sell the idea and ask people to give what they can. Sticking something on a website and providing a link for people to donate is impersonal and does not work.

I know we want to try to entice a minor league team to utilize (monetize) any new baseball facility we can muster. Would be nice then to find a home for it on Lincoln Ave instead of buried behind the convo as planned?

we are trying to entice a minor league team? did not know that. with Kane County so close and Rockford having a team of its own that seems foolish. i'm having a tough time understanding where the fanbase for this team is coming from?

I thought Sycamore had a very short-lived minor minor minor league team 5 years ago

Sycamore did, allowed beer sales, etc., and it did not succeed nor would it on Lincoln Highway....much less Lincoln Avenue wherever that is. No we are not trying to entice a minor league team, that simply feeds a fantasy for those still buying into STF's Master(bation) Plan.
Do you suppose all those who ponied up money during the black-tie event for the Gullikson Tennis Center ever wonder what became of their money? Did someone make off with those funds by jumping on President Baker's proposed Lucinda Avenue Trolley system, or speed away on the end-to-end bike path cutting through campus?
At least one former athletics staffer is still popping corks from the specially-labeled wine bottles for that event that former Ass(t) A.D. spacey Stacey was throwing into the Evans Field House dumpster assuming old wine is undesirable.
First we need an administration with a real plan for the future and that starts with deciding if any sports are on the chopping block because the majority on here only care about football. And unlike Millikin, there's no proof we can raise $4 million let alone five just for football.
Of course these are the same dreamers who continue to blame the state's financial woes for everything that's wrong on campus and dismiss DogFan's views about the importance of genuine and personal appeals to every level of donor and all fans.

Sycamore had one of those Wooden Bat Summer League teams. It's made up of mostly college players. Mainly the same as Rockford but their in a pretty good league. Kane County is the only minor league team in the area besides Beloit. Others are all independent leagues of summer leagues.
