I'm more concerned about Center and Guard play. Who's snapping the FB besides Harris. I've noticed most of the interior OL has lost some weight and the OT's put some on from last Spring's roster. Hopefully the Rockets are better conditioned and a little quicker.

There was a very high/bad snap late in the game that the Aussie kid made a nice athletic play to bring it in...03-banghead

RE: Spring Game Weather
Eli Peters had many overthrows, not that windy in the Glass Bowl, seemed to be in command of offense
Mitch G did not stand out with his running but threw a decent ball, actually it was hard to separate the two. Martin played a bit at the end.

Freshman coming in probably have a shot at starting.

Defense was the talk of the scrimmage. Bolden the frosh LBer looked strong (built like a tree stump, biceps have seen a curl or two) made more than a few plays. I thought was best Lber. Fisher had a couple nice hits.

Def line looked good stuffing the line most of day... ends to watch Hines, has the look of big time player making tackles every which way... chased down RB from behind LOS and tackled him for no gain on relentless pursuit. Skipper did not play, Rossi played def end and tight end, just a good athlete pressuring QB. Derrius Mullins did not play, on sidelines though.

Seymour did not play, Koback ran really well as did Jones (back at RB?) ... Sims did ok not a lot of carries but had some explosion. How they are going to keep Bryce Mitchell off the field I will never know. Had a drop but goes and gets the ball. My opinions only.

Love the fact they played the game. ...Treated former players very well with good food in the press tower before...there was a terrific turnout. Classy day all around for Rocket Football

RE: Spring Game Weather
Good to hear someone elses take. Maybe it wasn't windy where you were sitting/standing, but it sure was where I was on the west side. I thought I noticed the same thing about Peters, but I missed about half of the 1st qtr as I was a little late, then had to walk back to the car to get a jacket. I heard Peters name a lot when I was in the parking lot. Glad to hear the optimism about the defense. The offenses made some plays, but they were not overpowering the defense, that's for sure.

RE: Spring Game Weather
Spring Games are never a gauge on how good our team is, especially QB's. Lots of starters sat or didn't dress. Our new QB recruits are not on campus yet, so they get no mention. They probably won't see the field this year which is too bad. We have a plethora of QB's, RB's and WR's which is a good problem to have.

Did you say Rossi was playing DE? That is a surprise. As a true freshman last year he looked like the sure TE of the future and did not appear to have the size and muscular stature to play as a DE. Looks like the staff is looking at getting as much depth on defense as possible.

The OL should be forced to watch replays of the Ohio and Appy State games all summer to get their motivation lined up properly. Then show them Miami game so they can see what they can do when properly motivated against competition at a higher level. That should tell them a lot about carrying the right temperament into every game.

Different OG's for the Appalachian State game vs Miami. OL did a fair job against the Canes. Rockets only ran for 85 yds in 35 attempts against Miami. UT OL gave up 4 sacks and 9 TFL.

Yep, at least 2 series, he is a big strong guy with a motor. Im sure he can play DE. Hudson, a JUCO from California played too, can't say I remember a standout play... Main thing is Dline was the highlite I could see.

Lol! I appreciate the in-depth analysis though from UTDE. Great to hear that it was a classy day all around for Rocket Football, that's what we should strive to be day in and day out.

You have to think the ESPN300 QB will get his fair shot at the starting QB position this season. Did he really come to Toledo to redshirt? I would think immediate playing time was a big draw for him to sign with our Rockets over a plethora of P5 offers.

RE: Spring Game Weather
I'm sure he'll get his share of reps, but talent isn't always the main thing at QB and it's one of the hardest positions to break out out early. that stud rb or pass rush recruit can rotate in and out and make some plays as a frosh. playing a true frosh qb means putting your entire team in the hands of an 18 year old who has 20 college practices under his belt. i guess if he's john freakin elway you do it, but just because he may have a great arm doesn't mean it won't be a year or two before he gets serious snaps.
