'Land Bridge' is what they are calling it. 2020 completion date.

They have to close Echles between Southern and Spottswood first. The permit for that has been filed and approved, but this is a huge project across the tracks and it's not even close to nearing fruition yet.

Exactly!!! Back in my day we went to class severed limbs and all. I used the coiled wire from my binder to make a tourniquet one time. Made an A on the test while doing it. These condom snorting tide pod eaters would whine about "call 911" and "take me to the hospital", blah blah blah boo hoo hoo.

Was around campus today. The intersection of Echles and Southern was closed off with small construction crew.

That has been going on and off for some time now. Houston is covered in plates and has a huge crack down the middle from where they were working on pipes the past two weeks.

The old police substation between Houston and Echles in the front parking lot is no more, that demolition has been going on too.

Echles is closed today because they're working on water pipes in the area.

Were you one of those?

That was not as easy as it looked.

This is all work to relocate utility lines to prep for the bridge, parking garage, and rec center.

Apparently the parking garage is the first phase of the project. Not sure when thenlndbridfe fits into the timeline but supposedly the schedule calls for April 2019 to be the start of construction on the new rec center. Will be 75,000 sq ft of new space for a total of 225,000 sq ft once combined with the renovation of the existing center.

After what happened at Florida International, I hope they do double and triple inspections while building that thing.

For sure.

I imagine every civil engineering firm from San Luis Obispo to Bangor is reassessing that much since that incident.

We need Jamammy to give us a current update on the situation, with pics if possible.

Hell, he might be able to take pics from his front porch.

That had more to do with the engineering firm that was contracted for the job.

Basically every street on the south side of the tracks is covered in steel plates.

Some open holes here and there.

A bunch of prep work it seems.

I'll get some pics tomorrow.(probably not going to happen)

The entrance/exit to South Campus on Getwell is also getting revamped.

Add in the vibrations from the train and the two types of concrete rule and they have a possible record setting lawsuit on their hands.
