They were out of it (at large) before they lost to USM. Their only shot was to win the league. That’s just the harsh reality of it.

UAB isn't going to the NCAA tournament as an at large no matter what the schedule looks like.

Our only hope is winning the conference tournament.

We should hope football propels us into another conference which would once again give us opportunities for at large bids.

If our schedule wasn’t crap we most certainly could be an at large if we win

With large number of new, young, inexperienced players we'll have next season expect our schedule to be at least as bad as last year.

One mid-major who didn't win their conference made the Dance. One.

MWC is adding Gonzaga to Elevate their league. We better put butts in the seats for basketball and football and hope Clark delivers us.

Oh and before someone puts words in my mouth again I think you do your best to try and schedule like you will get an at large bid. Who knows? Maybe you have that magical season and everything falls into place and you get that shot at the rare non power at large.

Maybe there are two next year with Gonzaga helping that league?

All for a tougher schedule but I know the reality of our situation. I also don’t think you whore your program out like a SWAC school either. We need home games and we need to recruit.

I also find it funny that someone mentioned we should play regional teams and Chattanooga was mentioned. We played them and they had a bad year and then criticize the staff for playing Chattanooga. That gave me a chuckle. The truth is the Chattanooga game was part of the tourney we played in. We received two home games the tourney folks chose Chattanooga and Jacksonville.

Gonzaga said no unless i misread something.

Personally I think we should schedule Chattanooga on a regular basis...Belmont in Nashville too just to name a couple.

And I agree with you a H&H with Auburn would be best...in the early years of the series UAB was on top with 9 of the first 10 games being played in Birmingham (on top in wins too)...overall 14 of the 20 games have been played in Birmingham while 6 have been played in Au...the last Auburn game sold out at Bartow Arena and not even North Carolina did that...and yeah a lot of Au fans were there but on the business side of things we came out smelling like a rose - which is very rare for us

Regardless of whether we have a shot at an at-large berth or not (which I think we do), our schedule needs to improve and we need to improve as a program. To say we don't have a shot, or we can't is not the UAB way, it's not the Gene Bartow way, and it's definitely not my way.

I'm sure there are others, but off the top of my head, WKU took down Purdue
