That's what I was thinking.

One of the most maddening things about watching our offense the past four years. Lee and Cokely were the prototypical guys most coaches would run a pick and roll. Maybe the coaches didn't think we had the guards. I always wanted to see Lee and Cokely run a P&R together at least once.

Two things not used at UAB: A pick and roll and apparently the weight room. Lee listed at 206. Was listed 210 coming out of high school. Would have been nice to have him work on his all around game and not just standing out on perimeter shooting 3s. Put on some muscle, work on low post area. You know things that would help his UAB career first. He could have been so much more on the court. His responsibility for sure but good coaching could have gotten more from him. Don't give me the whole blocking shots crap. A lot of those were just his long arms, athleticism. Not being in right position defensively. He was a good player but I think most would agree we expected more when he signed with us.

The latter, is my most obvious gripe.

Norton obviously used the weight rooms if you compare him now to his freshman year. Several other players obviously improved. Cokley got bigger. A few years back Fahro Alihodzic got stronger. You can't take the lack of improvement of one player and condemn the entire coaching staff.

For real. Cokley put on a ton of weight and it was pure muscle.

As far as Lee goes, he obviously has NBA aspirations, and playing in the low post at UAB wild not have helped that goal. Lee had a good career at UAB, i hope we don’t let that get lost in the anger so many have with the current staff.

Have I just been missing it or is that correct?

Think when he went to the NBA scouting where ever he went they taught him wrong, He is a defensive player, with blocks and rebounds and a two or three step shot then move outside for the three. He is no Larry Bird or Robert Vaden.

Vaden's "exposure" to the NBA scouts ruined his senior year...

If the reports that Lee had several surgeries over the course of his four years at UAB, then one could argue that he didn't really have an offseason to work on his game/strength since he was recovering from surgery.

I'm not sure why I worded it like that. It's not even grammatically correct.

When any players comes to UAB our goal should be to prepare them for success at UAB first. If any players comes here with nothing but the NBA in mind he picked the wrong school considering our track record in this matter. Also even perimeter players need to be bigger than 6'9" 206 at that level. Lee might play overseas. He is not playing in the NBA.
And as soft as this team has been for years don't go on about how great the coaches have been with player development.

+1

Weightroom problems could be not adding weight like HaHa, or adding too much weight Watts,Madison, Sullivan, and Cokley. Also UAB has lied about players sizes for years. It doesn't shock me that HaHa weights 200 pounds, could have other guys true sizes listed wrong

LOL.. just like every other college team.

I once rode a commuter flight from Providence to Detroit with the Boston College basketball team . I'm 6'2" from the sole of my boots to the top of my ball cap. I had to duck to avoid exit signs and bulkhead connections. In walks these 15 guys in BC warm ups. Maybe 5 or 6 of them had to duck to avoid the same signs I did.

I pulled out my phone right there and checked, they had 3 guys UNDER 6'1" on the roster.

HaHa has been plagued with injuries for the last couple seasons. Cost of adding weight probably outweighed the benefit when taking into consideration the types of injuries he was dealt.
